How You Will Make an Impact:

The Community Liaison will establish and support growth of collaborative relationships with community organizations, businesses, and individuals for high engagement with products, services, and programs. This Position will collaborate with various staff, leaders, and stakeholders connected to advocacy, state and national outreach campaigns, and other community initiatives.

  • Help establish and maintain a network of relationships with community organizations, businesses, and individuals to promote services, products, and programs
  • Initiate opportunities such as guest speakers, job shadowing, workplace tours, and service projects
  • Partner with contracted schools to facilitate and maintain a program of career preparation and internships for students
  • Serve as local expert on federal workforce programs, youth service providers and programs
  • Utilize social media and established tools to coordinate community relations
  • Distribute approved marketing collateral and content pieces through a variety of channels that promote products, services, and programs
  • Assist in planning and implementation of events and community activities
  • Respond to inquiries from community members and other interested parties
  • Assist with recruiting spokesperson(s) to participate in events
  • Maintain documentation, written reports, and report on progress related to community outreach activities
  • Collaborate with other departments and groups to support planning, development and implementation of initiatives involving community-based organizations, businesses and community coalitions to strengthen the link between elected officials, civic organizations, communities, businesses and schools
  • Maintain professional memberships and attend conferences and events to keep current with youth programs and related industries
  • Utilize enterprise systems for information flows, data analytics, reporting
  • Participate in meetings and trainings
  • Administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time

Qualifications

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

  • Strong writing, oral communication, public speaking, and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain rapport with culturally diverse populations
  • Strong follow-through skills
  • Coordination, organizing, planning skills
  • Interpersonal skills and persuasion skills
  • Ability to work harmoniously as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks based on urgency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years total professional experience in Community Outreach or Community Relations
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years equivalent experience in Community Outreach, Community Relations (equivalent experience is included in total years of professional experience)
  • Skilled in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or other specific technology
  • Some evening student recruitment and/or evening meetings; occasionally working on Saturday and/or Sunday
  • Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds of force (almost all office jobs)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination, high people engagement.
  • Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

  • Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
  • Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.
