How You Will Make an Impact

Under the supervision of the Site Administrators, the Lead Tutors primary role is to ensure tutoring program best practices are implemented and supported at their Learning Center(s). This includes ensuring tutor program data is correctly submitted, producing tutor program performance reports, holding and/or attending regularly scheduled meetings, assisting in the onboarding of new tutors, and supporting ongoing tutor program trainings. Lead Tutors are to support the development of the tutoring program, provide professional mentorship to tutors, and model exemplar tutoring.

  • Monitors the accurate collection of tutor program data at designated site(s)
  • Provides tutors with objective individualized coaching regarding their ability to provide academic support and uphold tutor program best practices
  • Leads by modeling tutor responsibilities and program best practices
  • Maintains regular communication with Site Administrators to clearly communicate business travel and work location
  • Maintains regular communication with tutors through meetings, phone calls, and email
  • Makes themselves readily available to professionally and academically support all students and tutors
  • Analyzes and submits accurate tutor program performance reports to Site Administration and Program Coordinator
  • Meets regularly with site administration to review tutor program performance
  • Holds regularly scheduled tutor program meetings with tutors at designated site(s) to share general and tutor program specific updates in addition to utilizing tutor program data to improve student learning
  • Participate in Learning Center meetings, school events, school professional developments
  • Regularly attends Lead Tutor and general Tutor Program meetings arranged by Program Coordinator
  • Conducts new tutor onboarding training
  • Researches, requests, and helps to facilitate tutor professional development trainings
  • Obtains feedback from tutors regarding regularly scheduled tutor program meetings and trainings/professional developments
  • Researches new methods and resources to provide the most effective and current academic tutoring support
  • Keeps accurate and organized records of all program documents
  • Held accountable to all tutor responsibilities
  • Administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time

Qualifications

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

  • Excellent understanding of effective tutoring skills and the ability to model these skills
  • Skilled in providing objective feedback and coaching
  • Present themselves in a kind and professional manner
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with multiple staff members
  • Ability to listen and build mutually beneficial relationships
  • Ability to work with diverse youth populations
  • Demonstrate patience, encouragement, and understanding
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
  • Understanding of program development and coordination
  • Knowledgeable in the use of standard office computer programs and a variety of educational programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • At least three years of related tutorial/mentoring experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and/or writing skills preferred
  • A demonstrated interest in teaching career preferred
  • Intermediate or Advanced, or Expert skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

TRAVEL: Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination
  • Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together
  • Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information
  • Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery
  • Physical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs)
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required
  • Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures
