How You Will Make an Impact

The Regional Director, Student Services provides strategic leadership, administration, and guidance for designated educational programs, services, and initiatives in alignment with the Organization’s mission and core themes. Management and Program responsibilities include counseling, special education, student retention support and educational data. This position reports to the Area Superintendent or designee.

  • Provide leadership and administration of designated educational and student services programs.
  • Advise Areas Superintendent on School strategy and operations for designated programs.
  • Create policies, programs, and services that support and align with the organization’s mission and core themes.
  • Develop, revise as necessary, and implement policies and procedures for English Language Development, Assessment, Intervention, Student Programs and Educational Data.
  • Develop, support, and assess all programs, curricula, and course offerings for quality outcomes.
  • Monitor Student Services effectiveness and compliance, and lead program review processes.
  • Collaborate with the Area Superintendent on Program budgets and expenses.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to enhance programs and student services, and to maintain cooperative and comprehensive relationships between other departments and divisions.
  • Resolve complaints and concerns about academic issues originating with students, faculty, and others.
  • Cultivate and monitor educational initiatives and performance standards.
  • Serve as liaison with local school districts and other education agencies and organizations relative to effective program coordination.
  • Represent the organization’s student services at local, regional, and state-level meetings and events.
  • Develop agendas and facilitate meetings and trainings regularly or as needed.
  • Review federal and state legislation/regulations related to English Language Learners and Assessment; identify and share the impact of changes on the Division.
  • Review and analyze student data; use data to refine and improve functions and services.
  • Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned. These may be changed or modified from time to time.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, coordinate, supervise, coach, and direct the hiring, training, or performance evaluations of team members and oversee their daily activities.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local requirements for K-12 schools and charter school law.
  • Knowledge of high school credits, graduation requirements, interventions, alternative educational programs, including independent study.
  • Knowledge of curriculum, including highly developed competencies in at least one content area.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, teachers, students, administrative staff, parents, and the community.
  • Ability to initiate, develop, and coordinate programs and services based on student and school site needs.
  • Ability to effectively handle challenging and sensitive situations with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work with a variety of learning styles and abilities, including those with special needs and student at-risk of academic failure.
  • Ability to use technology, software applications for data collection and analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Valid State Teaching Credential with EL Authorization required.
  • Valid State Administrative Services Credential preferred and/or Certificate of Eligibility OR enrolled in an Administrative Services Credential Program preferred.
  • 3 years of Leadership experience in education or related required.
  • Diverse experience in public education programs preferred.
  • Experience in project management, program development, organizing, prioritizing, coordinating, implementing, and managing multiple projects, tasks and building teams preferred.
  • Profficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and other educational software applications.
  • Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mental Demands: high workflow management, medium project coordination, high people engagement.
  • Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. •
  • Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, operate office equipment or machinery.
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Working in a low to moderate noise environment with frequent deadline pressures.
