This position provides support to various school sites within the Inland Empire and High Desert regions. The role may require travel between locations to meet site-specific needs.

How You Will Make an Impact

Under the direction of the Director of Instructional Services, the Math Specialist designs, manages, coordinates, and supports the implementation of the company-wide math academic intervention program to enhance student learning and achievement; as well as, provide consultation and professional development activities to teachers, tutors, and administrators to enhance the educational effectiveness of a strategic and intensive math intervention program.

  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to develop organization-wide strategic and intensive math intervention program.
  • Support administrators and teachers in designing and implementing data-driven, engaging, and student centered approaches to math intervention programs for students at risk of academic failure.
  • Provide professional development training and workshops appropriate for administrators, teachers and tutors in math skill development and research-based, innovative instructional practices.
  • Provide coaching to teachers and tutors enabling them to think reflectively about improving student learning and implementing various instructional programs and practices.
  • Provide expertise to school leadership teams through professional development, coaching, mentoring, and serving as a content-specific expert to assist schools with core instructional initiatives focused on improving student achievement.
  • Assist teachers and tutors in differentiation for highly able or struggling students through the use of technology.
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and innovation in Mathematics Common Core curriculum and instruction.
  • Compile, review and analyze a variety of student data and technical information related to assigned area.
  • Conduct periodic program evaluation to assess the need for improvements in math instruction and use of assessments and data.
  • Assist administrators, teachers, and tutors in identifying appropriate math instructional materials and manipulatives for all students.
  • Research curricula, methods and materials in assessing and improving math education strategies and pedagogy to strengthen academic achievement.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records concerning intervention program and student progress monitoring.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of Organizations diagnostic assessment and data.
  • Administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or Mathematics
  • Masters Degree in Education or related field- Preferred
  • A valid California Teaching Credential
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Current curriculum and instructional strategies and programs for math development skills
  • Strong background in math development
  • Appropriate intervention programs and assessments utilized to address the barriers of student academic achievement
  • Pedagogical shifts within Common Core State Standards

ABILITY TO:

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Direct and coordinate academic achievement remedies for targeted populations
  • Provide leadership and direction to others involving curriculum and instructional issues pertaining to math achievement
  • Make independent judgments
  • Make oral presentations to convey information to large groups of educators and staff
  • Meet deadlines and maintain accurate records

TRAVEL: Ability to travel is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination.
  • Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
  • Physical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs).
  • Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
  • Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.
