Job Title: Senior Associate - Teacher Training & Educator Capability

Location: Pune

Travel: As per the project need
Position Overview:

To support the design, delivery and continuous improvement of high-quality teacher-development programmes for school vocational education.

The role will combine training delivery, field engagement, trainer support, content development and implementation learning, with a focus on translating vocational education pedagogy into effective classroom and training practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of teacher-training programmes, ToTs, Master Trainer programmes and other educator-capability initiatives.
  • Facilitate teacher and trainer training programmes using experiential, practical and competency-based approaches.
  • Support the development and refinement of training plans, session designs, facilitator guides, activities, practice exercises and assessment tools.
  • Observe teachers/trainers during training and field implementation and provide specific, constructive feedback to improve facilitation and classroom practice.
  • Support Master Trainers, trainers and teachers through mentoring, practice, reflection and follow-up.
  • Participate in field visits to schools, training sites and implementation locations to understand challenges and support implementation.
  • Capture field observations, participant feedback and implementation experiences and convert them into improvements in training, content and resources.
  • Support the development and use of tools for trainer selection, readiness assessment, observation, feedback and refresher learning.
  • Contribute to building and strengthening trainer pools and supporting cascade-training processes.
  • Adapt training approaches and resources to different curricula, learner/teacher contexts, languages and implementation settings.
  • Work closely with the Training, Content and Quality Assurance teams to ensure that training focuses on capability and application rather than attendance alone.
  • Engage with teachers, Vocational Trainers, Master Trainers and other education stakeholders to understand their needs and identify areas for capacity building.
  • Contribute to documentation of effective practices and lessons from the field for wider use across programmes.


Requirements

Minimum Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in teacher training, teaching, adult learning, educator development or a related field.
  • Experience in skill education/vocational education would be strongly preferred.
  • Experienced teachers, Vocational Trainers or trainers with a strong understanding of pedagogy and experiential learning may also be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating teacher/trainer training or professional development programs.
  • Understanding of practical, experiential and competency-based learning approaches.
  • Ability to observe classroom/training practice and provide meaningful, actionable feedback.
  • Ability to understand new curricula quickly, pedagogical approaches and program requirements.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with regular travel to schools, training sites and field locations.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Training, Content and other teams.
  • Experience working with government education systems, NGOs or large-scale education programs would be an advantage

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, Human Resource Development, Vocational Education or a related field.

B.Ed./M.Ed. or equivalent teacher-education qualification would be an advantage.
