The Opportunity

LifeNet International is a rapidly growing Christian nonprofit organization strengthening primary

healthcare systems across seven African countries. With an annual operating budget exceeding

$7 million and continued expansion underway, LifeNet is seeking a strategic and operationally

strong Global Finance Manager to lead global financial operations.

The Global Finance Manager will oversee finance, accounting, compliance, risk management,

and key administrative functions across the U.S. headquarters and seven country programs. This

role ensures strong financial stewardship of donor and organizational resources while

strengthening systems to support continued growth and operational excellence.

This position reports directly to the CEO and partners closely with Vice Presidents of

Advancement and Programs, as well as with Country Directors and functional leaders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Global Financial Leadership & Planning

  • Provide financial oversight across a $7M+ global portfolio spanning seven African countries.
  • Develop and maintain multi-year financial projections and scenario planning tools to support growth and sustainability.
  • Lead the annual organizational budgeting process in partnership with senior leadership and country teams.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and Board review.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

2. Accounting, Reporting & Internal Controls

  • Oversee global accounting operations across U.S. and country offices.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and applicable international accounting standards.
  • Lead monthly and year-end close processes with strong timeliness and accuracy.
  • Direct preparation of Form 990 and required U.S. regulatory filings.
  • Design, implement, and strengthen internal control systems across all countries, ensuring segregation of duties and fraud prevention measures.
  • Standardize and enforce financial policies and procedures globally.

3. Cash Management

  • Oversee global cash flow forecasting and liquidity management.
  • Manage banking relationships across multiple countries.
  • Monitor and mitigate foreign exchange risk.
  • Approve and manage inter-company fund transfers.
  • Oversee global payroll processes and expense reimbursements.

4. Donor Compliance & Grant Financial Management

  • Ensure compliance with all donor contracts, agreements, and financial reporting requirements, including U.S. Government funding when applicable.
  • Oversee management of restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Ensure appropriate cost allocation methodologies.
  • Support subrecipient and partner financial compliance monitoring.
  • Manage audit readiness for LifeNet.

5. Audit & Risk Management

  • Lead annual global audit processes (U.S. and country-level audits).
  • Oversee tracking and implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Support development and maintenance of an enterprise risk management framework.
  • Maintain adequate global insurance coverage.
  • Oversee financial components of whistleblower and safeguarding reporting systems.

6. Governance, Legal & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure U.S. and international registrations remain current (corporate, tax exemption, charitable solicitation, local registrations).
  • Support country offices in maintaining legal and governance compliance.
  • Oversee systems to track contracts and partner agreements.
  • Support intellectual property and compliance protections.

7. Systems & Operational Strengthening

  • Oversee financial systems and accounting platforms.
  • Ensure financial systems support organizational scale and integration with program
  • operations.
  • Lead process improvements to increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness across global operations.
  • Support procurement systems at U.S. and country levels, particularly for large or high-risk transactions.

Experience and Other Qualities

  • Directly supervise U.S.-based finance and administrative staff.
  • Provide technical oversight and capacity-building support to country finance teams.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and stewardship.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Advancement and Programs teams to ensure financial alignment with funding strategy.
  • 8–12+ years of progressively increasing finance experience, including leadership in international nonprofit or NGO environments.
  • Experience managing financial operations for organizations with budgets of $10M+.
  • Experience overseeing multi-country financial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP; familiarity with IFRS preferred.
  • Experience managing restricted funding from foundations, individuals, and government donors (USAID/USG experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience leading audits and strengthening internal controls.
  • Experience operating in African or other complex international contexts strongly preferred.
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational discipline.
  • High integrity and commitment to financial stewardship.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing, scaling organization.
  • Able to balance hands-on execution with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong alignment with LifeNet’s Christian mission and values. Final candidates will be asked to provide a pastoral/spiritual reference consistent with LifeNet’s faith-based hiring framework.
  • Willingness to travel internationally 2–4 times per year.
  • Ability to work from Washington, DC headquarters.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Salary range: $120,000–$145,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
