Posted at 22:34h in Careers by LifeNet

LifeNet International, a rapidly growing Christian social impact organization dedicated to improving the healthcare of millions of people across the continent of Africa, is searching for the right candidate to serve as Finance Officer.

The FCI Finance Officer is the headquarters level financial steward for LifeNet International’s anticipated subaward under the Faith and Communities Initiative (FCI), a five-year, annually renewed, multi-country project funded by the U.S. Department of State and led by World Vision. The position owns the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of project financial information from field transaction through donor report. It is the central point of coordination among the program accountants and Finance Manager in Burundi, the Global Service Office (GSO) Regional Finance Officer, and LifeNet’s headquarters finance function, and it provides the independent financial check confirming that costs charged to the award are allowable, allocable, reasonable, and adequately documented.

This is a full time position, with 100% of effort allocated to the FCI project. The FCI Finance Officer serves as the technical finance lead and primary US counterpart to the Burundi-based FCI Finance Manager. This is not a direct supervisory relationship; personnel management and day-to-day country-level supervision remain within the Burundi reporting structure. The Finance Officer provides technical direction and backstopping for project financial setup, donor compliance, accounting processes, internal controls, reporting, and closeout. The Finance Officer establishes project finance standards and review requirements, provides ongoing coaching, reviews financial deliverables, and works collaboratively with the FCI Burundi Finance Manager to ensure effective day-to-day financial management of the project. The FCI Burundi Finance Manager is responsible for daily implementation, local coordination, and management of country-level finance activities, which the Finance Officer may require corrections or documentation from the FCI Burundi Finance Manager before financial submissions are approved.

LifeNet aims to stop preventable deaths in sub-Saharan Africa, especially for mothers and children, by ensuring faith-based, community health facilities provide high quality healthcare. These facilities are the first, and often only, point of care that is accessible for the most vulnerable. Additionally, across the African continent, these facilities provide 40% of health services—as LifeNet improves care and stops preventable deaths here, health realities will drastically improve for millions.

LifeNet currently works with 500+ faith-based health facilities across 7 countries, including Burundi, Burkina Faso, DRC, Uganda, Malawi, Kenya, and Ghana. This network delivers essential services to the lowest quintile patients, maintaining international standards of care within safe and well-managed facilities thanks to ongoing training, tools and quality assurance from LifeNet.
