About the Role

The Manager – Institutional Partnerships will be responsible for institutional fundraising and grant management efforts to support the organization's strategic growth. The role will be responsible for identifying and securing funding from foundations and philanthropic institutions, while ensuring effective grant management and donor stewardship. The position requires a strong blend of fundraising, proposal development, partnership management, and strategic communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Institutional Fundraising and Partnership Development

  • Develop and manage a pipeline of institutional funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
  • Identify, cultivate, and strengthen relationships with foundations, philanthropic organizations, and development agencies
  • Lead donor outreach, engagement meetings, presentations, and partnership discussions
  • Monitor funding trends, donor priorities, and sector developments to identify new opportunities
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's resource mobilization strategy

Proposal Development

  • Develop high-quality concept notes, proposals, budgets, and donor submissions
  • Coordinate with programme, finance, monitoring and evaluation, and operations teams to develop compelling funding proposals
  • Ensure proposals clearly articulate program design, expected outcomes, scalability, sustainability, and impact
  • Manage proposal calendars and ensure timely submission of all donor applications

Grant Management and Donor Stewardship

  • Oversee the management of grants - work efficiently and effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ensure compliance with donor requirements, reporting schedules, and contractual obligations
  • Coordinate timely submission of narrative and financial reports
  • Track grant deliverables, milestones, budgets, and risks
  • Maintain strong donor relationships through regular communication, updates, and review meetings

Strategic Communication and Knowledge Management

  • Develop fundraising collaterals, donor briefs, presentations, and partnership materials
  • Maintain grant and donor tracking systems and databases.
  • Prepare periodic reports on fundraising performance, donor engagement, and pipeline status
  • Capture and document impact stories, program results, and lessons learned to support fundraising efforts

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Sociology / Development Studies / Social Work / Public Policy, or a related field
  • 8-10 years of experience in institutional fundraising, donor engagement, partnerships, and grant management within the development sector, with field-level experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing successful grant proposals and managing donor relationships
  • Experience working with foundations, international donors, and philanthropic institutions
  • Understanding of education, adolescent development, and gender
