  • Design statistically robust soil, water and dust sampling campaigns across diverse agroecological zones.
  • Oversee analytical laboratories (ICPOES, ICPMS, ion chromatography, XRD, PSD) QA/QC, calibration, and vendor relationships.
  • Supervise geochemical characterization of rock feedstocks and soil samples (mineralogy, heavy metal risk, asbestiform screening).
  • Aide in the development of novel quantitative and theoretical frameworks for tracking the modern carbon cycle
  • Guide geochemists, lab technicians and field scientists; embed a culture of rigor and intellectual curiosity.
  • Plan to hire, training and succession to support scaleup.
  • Present findings to standards bodies, customers and investors; contribute to white papers and policy consultations.

Education, experience and skills

  • PhD in Geochemistry, Geochemical Modeling, Soil Biogeochemistry or a related discipline.
  • Post-doctoral research in the carbon cycle, silicate weathering, carbonate weathering, carbon mineralization, development of novel isotope systematics, experience in handling mass spectrometers will receive special consideration
  • Candidates who demonstrate strong quantitative abilities will also be given special consideration
  • 5+ years of experience in research related to carbon dioxide removal or the carbon cycle
  • Excellent communicator - the candidate should be able to brief smallholder farmers and outside auditors with equal clarity.
  • Experience integrating geochemical data into commercial MRV or LIMS platforms.
  • Prior familiarity with voluntary carbon market standards (Puro, Isometric, VCMI, ICVCM) is preferred.
