Position Description
As the Farmer Engagement Lead, you will be responsible for deeply understanding our farmers’ needs and work with various stakeholders to ensure our farmers can work successfully with Mayani. You will be the primary contact of our farmers and ensure they are set up to succeed as Mayani's partners. You will support the Chief Farmer and work together to foster good relationships with government agencies and communities that provide an ecosystem of support to our farmers.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- FARM and COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Coordinate with LGU and other Government Agencies related to Farm Business
- Set meetings, Courtesy call with Mayor (SB), Municipal Agricultural Officer, Local Agrarian Reform Officer, or DTI Officer for possible partnership with MAYANI.
- Compile a database of Farmers, Farmers’ Association or Farmers’ cooperatives within the localities.
- FARMS / FARMERS’ ONBOARDING
- Meet the Farmers’ Associations / cooperatives recommended by the DA.
- Visit the farms
- Check the Farm Management Practices, either Traditional Chemical or Natural / Organic Farming Practices.
- Label – separate / identified the Chemical and Natural Farming practices.
- Get the inventory of fruits and vegetables.
- On-board the farm products, Farmers, Farmers’ Association or Cooperatives
- RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Supervise / Manage the Demo Farm
- Identify the crops / live stocks for research.
- Identify the needs of the Farming communities on Natural and Organic Fertilizers.
- Identify the cost and return analysis.
- Prepare, request for the budget.
- Implement the projects.
- COMMUNITY ORGANIZING – (CSR)
- Promote the Farmer Field School (FFS) System to the existing Farmers’ Cooperative/Association/LGU
- Explain the FFS System in the identified community
- Formulate Article of Incorporation and By-Laws for SEC.
- Assist the organization to put up FFS
