Background
The Digital Health Agency (DHA) is a Semi-Autonomous Government Agency under the Ministry of Health, established through the Digital Health Act No. 15 of 2023. The Agency is mandated to spearhead the digital transformation of Kenya’s health sector by developing, operationalising, and maintaining an integrated, secure, and citizen-centric digital health ecosystem.

To support the realisation of this mandate, DHA has partnered with Medic, a global non-profit organization that collaborates with Ministries of Health and implementing partners to strengthen digital health systems through open-source tools, capacity building, and data-driven innovation.

Within this framework, Medic seeks to engage a Data Analyst to be seconded to DHA to support the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of data to inform evidence-based decision-making, policy development, and digital health programme performance monitoring.


Job Title: Data Analyst
Directorate: Digital Health and Informatics
Reports To: Head, Division of Health Information Management
Location: Digital Health Agency, SHA building, 10th floor
Type: Full-time contract until April 2026, with possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

Job Purpose
The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting data to help the organization make informed decisions. The role involves turning data into actionable insights, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility across systems. It also involves identifying all data quality issues and finding a resolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, validate, and maintain datasets from multiple sources.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with teams to define data requirements and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Perform data quality checks and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Support data governance and protection practices in line with organizational policies.
  • Prepare periodic analytical and performance reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Work with system developers to improve data collection tools and database functionality.
  • Use statistical tools and techniques to conduct advanced analyses (e.g., regression, forecasting).
  • Provide technical support and capacity building to staff on data management and use.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in data analysis, monitoring & evaluation, or related field.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Excel).
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, STATA, or SPSS).
  • Experience with database management and SQL queries.
