WHO WE ARE
Noora Health India Private Limited is a key partner in Noora Health’s mission is to improve outcomes and strengthen health systems by equipping family caregivers with the skills they need to care for their loved ones. They develop content, technology platforms, new products, and strengthen other operational functions that support the scale and impact of Noora Health’s programs.
Founded in 2014, Noora Health turns hospital hallways and waiting rooms into classrooms by tapping into the most compassionate resources available for the patient’s care: their own family.
With support from governments and partners in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Nepal, Noora Health has trained more than 51.4 million caregivers and patients across 16,000+ facilities using their flagship caregiver education and training curriculum, the Care Companion Program (CCP).
In a cohort of patients, the CCP reduced post-surgical cardiac complications by 71%, maternal complications by 12%, newborn complications by 16%, and newborn mortality by 18%.
Noora Health is an Audacious Project Grantee and received the Skoll Foundation Award for Social Innovation. To learn more, watch our TED Talk, Skoll feature, or read about our partnership with the World Health Organization.
WHAT THE PLATFORMS & ENGINEERING TEAM DOES
Our Platforms & Engineering team continuously innovates and builds new technology and products to improve health outcomes and save lives. We serve patients and family caregivers across India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Nepal throughout their caregiving journeys. We also build solutions for frontline healthcare workers and internal engineering systems that power our larger programmatic work.
We spend a lot of time understanding user challenges before folding up our sleeves to design, develop, and deploy digital solutions that address their needs. We run multiple experiments to validate our hypothesis, adopting the successful ones for wider implementation. Additionally, we visualize complex, voluminous data to gain insights that drive strategic and operational decisions across the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
We are looking for a Team Lead who will run a focused engineering pod and own the delivery of a defined area of our product. This is a hands-on technical role with people management responsibilities. You will spend a meaningful share of your time in code, in design reviews, and in production debugging, while also setting direction for a small team of three to five engineers, growing their craft, and running the operating rhythm that turns plans into shipped products.
You will work closely with the Lead Engineer, the Product team, and counterparts in design and data to translate strategic priorities into well-scoped sprint work. You are expected to be the person on your pod who closes the loop on commitments, who keeps the bar on engineering quality, and who develops the engineers around you so the team gets stronger over time.
- Lead the entire lifecycle of software development (concept, design, test, release, and post-release support).
- Develop robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs to support mobile and web applications.
- Design and implement efficient database structures, queries, and stored procedures to handle large volumes of data.
- Manage two to five direct reports and mentor a team of engineers fostering a culture of ownership, quality and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers and others to deliver well-architected, seamless products.
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code that is production-ready and well-tested.
- Maintain and enhance the codebase of existing projects; Diagnose and fix bugs that may be reported from time to time.
- Explore new backend technologies and frameworks to enhance the development process and product performance.
- Use analytics tools and techniques to understand system performance and user behavior, and suggest improvements.
- Contribute to hiring by interviewing candidates against our level expectations, writing structured notes, and making clear hire or no-hire calls.
- Drive resolution of operational gaps in your area: alerting, on-call, incident response, tech debt, and security and compliance hygiene.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with at least 1–2 years of direct people management or formal tech lead experience for a team of three or more engineers.
- Track record of shipping production systems end-to-end, ideally including at least one large project where you owned the architecture, the delivery plan, and the team running it.
- Strong backend engineering skills in JavaScript, Python, Java, or similar, including API design, data modeling, and query optimization on relational databases.
- Comfortable working across the stack when needed, with enough familiarity with frontend, mobile, or data pipelines to make sound architectural decisions in a small team.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms such as Google Cloud or AWS, with experience deploying, monitoring, and operating production services.
- Experience in AI/ML and related technologies is a must.
- Working knowledge of implementing LLM-based operations – like RAG (Retrieval augmented generation), fine-tuning of existing models, self-hosting open weights models, etc.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, capable of making decisions with incomplete information, and willing to revisit decisions as facts change.
- Knowledge of deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms and monitoring their performance.
- An engineering degree in computer science, information science, or equivalent hands-on experience in programming.
- Strong written and verbal communication. You document decisions, write clear ERDs and build alignment with the stakeholders.
