POSITION OVERVIEW

The Operations Senior Supervisor for Program Oversight team role will provide support and advisory services directly to the operational business units to accelerate and ensure control execution and risk management. Responsible for leading a team supporting and driving consistent 1st Line of Defense (FLOD) adherence to critical programs such as Risk Control & Self-Assessment (RCSA), Operational Control Assessment and Testing, Audits/Exams Validation, and Corrective Action Plan Monitoring. Lead creation of a risk based control matrix with respect to applicable regulations for all lines of businesses across all products. Identification and evaluation of control efficiency through control testing, issues management and remediation. Lead and provide guidance and direction to a team of multiple Supervisors and Analysts that are the 1st Line of Defense in these assigned functions to minimize risk exposures and strengthen the overall control environment. Use risk assessment data to identify and seek improvements in the control environment for operational groups.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Senior Supervisor will work with business leaders to strategize and lead the creation of controls and establishing performance metrics that meet regulatory and process requirements.
  • Leads the continuous improvement of business control performance and risk mitigation through the ongoing RCSA program execution.
  • Leads a team of analysts that will be responsible for testing and monitoring of the controls periodically based on risk rating and business needs.
  • Working with individual business team leaders to initiate process improvements.
  • Coordinate working groups to define activities, devise new processes/controls, and agree on roles and responsibilities.
  • Responsible for supporting audits and regulatory exams.
  • Continuously supervises and tests risk and control profiles; conducts assigned testing and monitoring of operational controls.
  • Assist in crafting reports that include test methodology, testing results, and recommendations to improve processes.
  • Proactively identifies control deficiencies and materialized issues.
  • Understands the business impacts of new issues and prepare root cause analysis.
  • Partner with Compliance Advisory and Legal teams to identify regulatory requirements and apply them to our internal testing and monitoring assignments.
  • Lead discussions with supporting partners to communicate testing results and provide the guidance and support needed to implement and maintain the first line of defense controls.
  • Partner and collaborate across operational business units, 2nd Line of Defense, and internal audit to successfully handle and mitigate operational risk.
  • Partner with operational business units to identify and assess business controls, develop strategies to remediate gaps identified, and implement processes to reliably lead and mitigate risk.
  • Partners with operational business units to ensure existing and emerging risks stemming from business activities are efficiently identified, measured, supervised, and controlled.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of existing and emerging regulatory requirements, operational processes, internal policies, and standard methodologies.
  • Follows 2nd Line of Defense risk and compliance policies for operational activities.
  • Lead 1st Lind of Defense in the development and execution of controls.
  • Lead with converting control deficiencies into action plans and provide recommendations to improve governance practices in alignment with risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Anticipates business needs and proactively finds opportunities to improve and strengthen the control environment through concrete insights.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 8+ years of business process internal controls or audit experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years combined regulatory compliance and/or legal experience in the consumer financial industry (marketing, originations, and servicing of consumer lending products).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, or other analytical discipline.
  • Experience working with Enterprise Policies, Standards, and operating procedures with an understanding of governance.
  • Experience with issue identification and management.
  • Confirmed understanding of key regulations including but not limited to Reg B, Reg Z, Reg E, and other privacy-related laws, such as TCPA, FDCPA, and FCRA
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous in documenting testing and monitoring results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient time and project management skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of leadership (Business Units, Sr. Leadership, Executives)
  • Influencing skills and ability to successfully partner with all levels of leadership to help drive the control agenda.
  • Experience with data reporting and analysis
  • Ability to analyze, coordinate, and prioritize across multiple complicated priorities.
  • Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and accountability.
  • General knowledge of Office 360, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PPT
  • Bilingual in reading, writing, and speaking English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Limited international travel may be required.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000 - $124,000.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects a national minimum and maximum range for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
