Role Summary:

The Procurement Officer ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement of goods and
services across Penda Health. The role maintains ethical standards, builds reliable supplier partnerships, and supports operational continuity across all medical and support functions. Success in this role means consistent adherence to procurement policies, value-for-money outcomes, and strong collaboration with internal stakeholders to meet organizational needs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement Strategy & Operations
Oversee end-to-end procurement processes — from needs assessment to supplier engagement — ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

  • Supplier Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers through transparent negotiations, ethical practices, and performance evaluations that drive value for money and sustainable supply.

  • Compliance & Governance
Ensure all procurement activities adhere to legal, ethical, and organizational standards. Maintain accurate documentation to support transparency, audit readiness, and effective reporting.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making
Leverage procurement systems and dashboards (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to track performance, monitor cost trends, and provide timely reports that inform strategic decisions.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with internal teams — including Finance, Warehouse, Facilities, and Clinical Operations — to align procurement priorities with organizational needs and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Culture & Values Alignment
Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and teamwork in all procurement practices, embodying Penda’s commitment to ethical business, operational excellence, and patient-centered care.

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have...

  • A Higher Diploma or above in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • A professional certification such as CPSP-K, CIPS (UK), or an equivalent qualification (required).

  • Membership with KISM (Kenya Institute of Supplies Management) — an added advantage.

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in procurement and supply chain management, ideally within healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industries.

  • A proven track record in managing procurement of both pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical supplies in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of procurement tracking tools and inventory management systems (Excel, Power BI, ERP).
