Chief Programmes Officer (CPO)

Location: Any PEAS country of operation (Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, UK) with a preference for Africa-based candidates

Salary: £67,000 – £78,000 per year, dependent on experience and location

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Reports to: CEO

About the Role

PEAS is seeking an exceptional Chief Programmes Officer (CPO) to join our Global Strategic Management Team and drive our mission forward. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CPO will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education for hundreds of thousands of young people across Uganda, Zambia, and Ghana. The CPO is one of two people who can deputise for the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee PEAS’ school network: Ensure our 38+ schools provide high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable education.
  • Scale our government partnerships: Strengthen collaboration with Ministries of Education to improve over 300 government partner schools and expand PEAS’ impact.
  • Drive innovation: Explore opportunities in ed-tech and AI to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Develop strategic partnerships: Maintain and grow relationships with funders such as FCDO, USAID, and the Mastercard Foundation.
  • Lead thought leadership: Guide PEAS’ research agenda and represent the organisation externally.
  • Organisational leadership: Inspire and support a high-performing team across multiple countries.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Education expertise with a strong track record of expanding access to quality education.
  • 7+ years of senior leadership experience in a fast-growing organisation.
  • Experience managing diverse, multi-country teams and working with funders/governments.
  • Proven ability to secure and manage strategic funding partnerships.
  • Commitment to PEAS’ values, gender equity, and inclusion.
