Location: Lawra and Jirapa, Upper West, Ghana, with regular travel between schools

Contract: Fixed-term, 2 years, with potential for renewal

Start date: October 2026

PEAS Ghana is recruiting a School Improvement Officer to support government schools across Lawra and Jirapa to strengthen school leadership, teaching and learning, and safeguarding through our Enriching Basic Education in Lawra (EBEL) programme.

Working directly with school leaders and Ghana Education Service officials, you’ll provide practical coaching, training and support to help schools identify areas for improvement, develop and deliver School Improvement Plans, and use data to improve outcomes for learners. You’ll also help build the capacity of School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs) and contribute to PEAS’ ambition to expand the programme’s impact across Ghana.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coaching school leaders to strengthen school quality and learning
  • Supporting the development and implementation of School Improvement Plans
  • Delivering training and capacity building for school leaders and GES officials
  • Monitoring school progress and using data to provide targeted support
  • Supporting teacher development and peer learning across programme schools

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A degree, preferably in Education, Social Sciences or Gender
  • Experience in a school leadership role
  • Experience supporting improvements in education outcomes and delivering training
  • Experience working with stakeholders in rural Ghana
  • Strong relationship-building, organisation and communication skills
