We are an insuretech firm that provides agriculture insurance design and execution services, specialising in index based insurance and are backed by top tier VC investors who have invested more than $25 million in the business. Since 2015 we have provided climate insurance to 15.4 million smallholder farmers, 41% of which were women across 19 markets in Africa and Asia who pay an average of $6.8 per season to insure their crops. So far we've unlocked over $2.22 billion of capital from local and international insurance markets for climate risks since we started in 2015 and paid out $40.8 million to our client farmers.

What You Will Be Doing
The Compliance Associate will work closely with the Head of compliance to ensure that the company’s global operations and its employees adhere to the applicable laws and policies.
Providing audit information to management by researching and analyzing data, preparing reports, conducting risk assessments and enforcing corrective action where necessary. The scope of work will cover all Pula’s subsidiaries Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique, Nigeria
1.Compliance 70%
- Design and implement a global compliance manual to ensure internal and external legal adherence.
- Evaluate business risks and advise on strategic decisions and operations.
- Conduct compliance audits, research, and disseminate laws and regulations.
- Review new subsidiaries for compliance risks and manage implementation.
- Periodically review and update compliance manual and related policies.
- Oversee implementation of compliance audit findings.
- Develop, implement, and monitor company compliance activities.
- Ensure departmental compliance with laws and regulations.
- Communicate with the Head of Compliance regarding regulatory updates.
- Advise, train, and oversee staff on compliance procedures, including AML and CFT requirements.
2.Special Projects 30%
- Assist the Head of Compliance with special projects as and when required, this will typically include
- Drafting and reviewing of legal documents
- Legal setup of new subsidiaries
- Renewals of licenses, permits and registrations
- Various legal requests
- Various stakeholder requests and reports
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree in law, risk management, or a related field.
- 4-5 years’ work experience in a compliance officer role preferably in a financial institution or experience in External/ Internal Audit, QMS Audit, Analysis or Risk Management and Compliance. Experience with an insurance regulator in any of our territories will be a strong asset.
