About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Data Intern to join our dynamic team. Our mission is to create schools that open doors and change lives. As a Data Intern, there is opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to our daily operations. This internship will provide valuable insight into the world of data collection and analysis, and help you develop key skills for a successful career in the field. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to help Rising and its partner schools make data-driven decisions that lead to sustained improvements in student learning outcomes.

The Data Intern will:

  • Oversee the planning and implementation of baseline, midline and end line student assessments.
  • Supervise/ assist in additional fieldwork/ data collection projects.
  • Work alongside the coordinate internal student exam results entry and attendance.
  • Ensure quality data entry of exam results.
  • Ensure data integrity across all areas of operation (i.e. Bambai attendance records, enrolment records, exam results and weekly reporting formats).
  • Assist the different Associate to prepare and review bank reconciliation and receipts.
  • Develop and deliver training and support materials to build data literacy across the organization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support implementation of the organizational data strategy.

Location and Reporting:

This is an Internship position. The role will be based in our operating office in Sierra Leone.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data science, or education
  • At least 1 year experience in data analysis and management, preferably in an educational setting
  • Basic knowledge in statistical analysis software such as SPSS, Stata, or R is a plus.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals
