Sanivation is a venture-backed company that partners with local governments in Africa to create clean, healthy, and productive cities through waste management. We are growing and need a Project Development Senior Officer (PDSO) responsible for supporting project funding and structuring activities, including conducting feasibility studies, preparing financial models, and portfolio management.

Role Overview

The Project Development Senior Officer will report to the Project Development Manager and work closely with the Project Development Lead and other officers to execute the role.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, project management, environmental studies, engineering, or related fields.

  • CIFA/CPA training will be an added advantage

  • PMP training will be an added advantage but not a requirement.

  • Experience managing external stakeholders (investors, funders, water service providers, experts).

  • Experience in project management.

  • Experience in report and proposal writing.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills.

  • Keen to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Project Funding and Structuring

  • Respond to opportunities identified, i.e., EOI, RFP

  • Work on, submit and make follow-up on funding proposals.

  • Liaise with the PD team to ensure that project funding meets the requirements.

Feasibility Studies and Project Management

  • Set and manage project development work plans, timelines, activities, budget, and team for implementation.

  • Support/lead the implementation of projects/ feasibility studies and ensure that they are within the set timelines and budget margins.

  • Develop and maintain tools to know the status of projects under development across the project portfolio.

Financial Modeling

  • Develop and update project financial models for sanitation and solid waste infrastructure projects and services geared towards securing funds and utilization by utilities and municipalities in developing investment plans.

  • Present financial models to utilities, local government, and development finance institutions to drive positive investment decisions

Report Writing

  • Create a project report with clear and meaningful content through compelling writing, editing, and synthesizing.

  • Prepare concise and accurate project reports, operational performance reports, and project memos.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including but not limited to Development Financial Institutions, local and national government, utilities, and WASREB, among many others.

  • Follow up on the status of reports and proposals submitted

  • Support account owners meet the set account plans for the cities

  • Identify and link up with external experts such as design and construction partners that we could collaborate on in submitting a proposal.
