About the Role
This is a 1-year project role based full-time in Naivasha, Kenya. This role will be part of the construction team in building a first in its class city-wide waste to value fecal sludge treatment plant.
The Site Inspector is responsible for managing day-to-day activities on the construction site, and overseeing work to ensure it is completed according to design specifications, safety regulations, and project timelines. This role will be the link between the site and project management teams, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.
This role will report directly to the Project Construction Manager and work closely with the site contractor, the supervision consultants, and the rest of the construction team.
Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Compliance
- Monitor adherence to the program of works, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.
- Plan and allocate resources efficiently, coordinating personnel, materials, and equipment.
- Manage contract deliverables and support Environmental, Social, and Health Impact Assessments (ESHIA).
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and permit requirements.
- Implement stormwater management, erosion control measures, and sustainability practices to minimize environmental impact.
Site Quality & Safety Assurance
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc site inspections to verify construction quality and safety standards.
- Approve construction methods, materials, and techniques, ensuring industry best practices.
- Track and evaluate test results, taking corrective actions as needed.
- Enforce health & safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and ensuring proper PPE usage.
- Identify and resolve design discrepancies, collaborating with engineers and contractors.
Reporting, Documentation & Stakeholder Coordination
- Maintain detailed records of site activities, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on key milestones, challenges, and emerging issues.
- Act as a liaison between contractors, engineers, and project managers, facilitating site meetings and issue resolution.
- Communicate inspection findings and recommendations clearly to all stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Five years experience in construction site management or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in construction software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project), strong understanding of construction methodologies, and a solid grasp of engineering principles.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure
Working Relationship with teams:
- Collaborates with technical, project and operations teams within Sanivation in the delivery of infrastructure projects
- Manages works inspectors, contractors and on-site service providers
- Coordinates between project consultants, community representatives, local authority

The Site Inspector will be based full-time on site in Naivasha, Kenya.
