Manager, Research Writing & Partnerships

At Simple Education Foundation (SEF) we work with the government to build state-wide strengthening programs for teachers and principals to increase the standard of teaching in government schools across India. Our mission is to strengthen 1 million educators by 2028.

We are a highly driven team with over 50 years of cumulative experience in teaching in classrooms and working with government school systems. Our team is young, dynamic, bold and audacious enough to make this mission come true in our lifetime. To help us accelerate our impact, we are looking to onboard more members on our paper plane!

About the role

As part of the Learning & Insights team at SEF, this role is pivotal in capturing the essence of our programs and sharing invaluable insights with our broader ecosystem. As we look to strengthen our voice of hope and evidence, we are looking to produce high-quality research and advocacy outputs that are relevant to the Indian context, based on insights from SEF’s projects and from the ecosystem at large.

We are looking for someone who possesses a strong analytical mind, an individual who can keenly understand and analyze diverse programs, and synthesize findings into impactful narratives that advocate for our beliefs and showcase the effectiveness of programs. The key responsibilities include deciphering the nuances of various programs and interventions, capturing and articulating key insights in reports, and spearheading research studies to assess the effectiveness of tools and interventions.

How can you succeed in this role?

• Generate reports, white papers, and articles focusing on SEF's interventions within partner schools and statewide programs.
  

• Conduct research studies to assess the impact and effectiveness of tools, resources, and interventions utilized in our programs.
  

• Collaborate closely with the Learning and Insights team lead to establish a comprehensive research agenda encompassing outcome-oriented studies and broader education-focused research in the Indian context.
  

• Foster collaborative relationships, both internally within the organization and externally, particularly with academic and research communities.
  

Requirements

Skills Required

• Research & Data analysis
  

• Experience in designing and executing research studies, by conceptualising studies, designing data collection tools, and ensuring robust data collection.
  

• Engage in quantitative and qualitative data analysis to cull out insights and learnings.
  

• Engage with ease with secondary research to draw potential partnerships
  

• Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research approaches and proficiency in handling and analysing complex data
  

• Communication
  

• Can conceptualise and report insights from pilot research studies
  

• Proficiency in crafting compelling, creative, well-structured advocacy pieces, suitable for publication
  

• Project Management
  

• Is planned, organised, methodical, meticulous and detail-oriented
  

• Makes their own schedule and prioritises tasks independently without the manager's support

Knowledge

• Deep understanding of the public education system in India
  

• Understanding and interest in the research, evidence, and advocacy landscape both within India and globally
  

• Have basic knowledge of conducting secondary research and using G Suite
  

• Demonstrated experience in liaising and co-operating with academic institutions and NGOs at a state level
  

Experience

• 3-4 years of relevant experience in the education sector in fields such as research, communication and advocacy, policy, monitoring & evaluation
  

• Experience in dealing with the analysis of quantitative data and quantitative is a must
  

• Experience in reporting research results to various stakeholders
  

• Proficiency in Hindi and English language, both spoken and written, is preferred

Salary and benefits

Compensation will be between Rs 7,50,000 to 9,50,000 based on the experience of the candidate and will include the following perks:
