At Simple Education Foundation (SEF), we work with the government to build state-level programs for teachers and principals to increase the standard of teaching in government schools across India. Our mission is to strengthen 1 million educators by 2028. We are a highly driven team with over 50 years of cumulative experience in teaching in classrooms and working with government school systems. Our team is young, dynamic, bold and audacious enough to make this mission come true in our lifetime. To help us accelerate our impact, we are looking to onboard more members on our paper plane!

About the role: Sashakt Prathmik—meaning empowered primary—is SEF’s partner-schools program to strengthen government primary schools through universal Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Now in its fourth year, the program works with Teachers, Principals, Families, and Sashakt Prathmik Fellows to drive sustainable change.

Our partner schools, called Centres of Excellence (COEs), test and demonstrate innovative classroom practices, acting as knowledge hubs for system-wide scale-up. SEF teams work on the ground daily, building deep relationships with school communities and leveraging real-time insights to refine solutions. Learnings from COEs guide strategic adjustments before integration into larger system-strengthening programs, ensuring solutions are relevant, effective, and responsive to teachers’ needs. This role provides:

  • A hands-on opportunity to collaborate with educators, community leaders, and children, addressing real-world challenges, bridging the gap between policy and practice, and driving impactful interventions.

  • An opportunity to design and facilitate research-backed teaching and learning initiatives, ensuring they address school-level education needs and improve teaching and learning practices in government schools.

  • A chance to support transformation in Uttarakhand, creating a lasting impact on how children experience learning in government schools.

If you're passionate about education, problem-solving, and driving change by working directly with schools and communities, this role offers the perfect opportunity to grow, contribute, and learn.

What will you do?

  • Design, Pilot Test and Deliver research- and evidence-based interventions for students, teachers, school leaders, communities, and parents.

  • Analyse and Synthesise insights from interventions to guide decision-making, refine strategies, and create scalable tools and resources.

  • Coach and Collaborate with educators, fostering trust-based relationships that build competencies and surface existing best practices.

  • Work with a diverse team of 4–6 members, including Sashakt Prathmik Fellows—female youth leaders from Gram Sabhas where 5 partner schools are located.

  • Partner with the Learnings & Insights and Centres of Excellence–Urban teams to co-design, reflect, and distill learnings from program interventions.
