About the role
The Trainer role is primarily a field-based position which plays an important role as an interface between Spark, CBFs and communities in delivering Titukulane FCAP Program implementation initiatives in all communities of practice. He or she will see to it that there is effective execution of Titukulane FCAP in all communities’ projects activities, continued implementation, growth through benefits sharing and sustainability of Titukulane FCAP Projects in all communities of practice during and after partners’ handovers of the projects to communities. The Trainer shall support the achievement of Sparks ultimate objectives and KPIs. The Trainer shall report to the Program Officer. (PO)
Responsibilities
Programs:
- Field execution of Titukulane FCAP activities e.g. collaborating with CBFs, Design fellows, Partner Officers and community leaders on community meetings and local Government sensitization meetings and training during projects introductions, planning, implementation and during post implementation.
- Lead in CBFs training, refresher training and field monitoring.
- Coordinate with Design fellows and take part in Co-designs.
- Supervise projects by ensuring CBFs, Community leaders and communities have necessary expertise in implementing their pathways with adequate coordination.
- Carry out activities that promote Projects or pathways continuity such as CBFs visits, community or village and Pathways sustainability activities.
- Track record keeping, CBFs activities, Pathways progress, benefits sharing and sustainability progress of the pathways.
- Supervise, mentor, and coach Community Based Facilitators in the execution of their duties.
- Accompany Community Based Facilitators during community meetings and other pathway activities such as during villages/community exchange visits to advance pathways sustainability and Community of practice learnings.
- Manage allocated funds for field use in regard to finance policy.
- Developing weekly work plans and reports for all field activities with measurable deliverables and in relation to KPIs.
- Field data administration for FCAP meetings, benefits and maintenance activities through comcare and other reporting tools.
- Collect success stories and learning and share with the Program Officer
- Engage with Partner Field Officers, Community development structures such VDCs and ADCs, Technical Assistants, Development Assistants for program activities progress.
- Manage relations with CBFs, Community leaders and their communities.’
- Effectively manage all organization items such as phones, riding gear including motorbike usage under his/her jurisdiction with close attention to, fueling, maintenance and repairs.
- Other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Program Officer.
The Trainer will:
- Report to the Program Officer, and will have weekly check-ins related to projects, performance, and professional development.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and monthly team training.
- Participate in planning and budgeting for field related activities.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You are driven by a world with a strong civil society where communities are in the driving seat of local change
- You have relevant development experience, ideally in either community-driven development, governance, citizen engagement, social accountability, livelihoods, or other related areas and/or policy-driven change,
- You have an excellent track record of report writing for institutional, preferably for donors, with strong writing, editing, and critical analysis skills
- You have excellent written communication skills, preferably including experience writing reports, program documents and good in the local language.
- Excellent training skills
- You should be flexible to work anywhere in Malawi.
- Excellent community proposal writing skills
- You possess strong planning, organizational and coordination skills.
- Good understanding of the parameters of quality in the context of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
The person should be a holder of a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Education, Social Work, Agriculture, and any other relevant field. Any additional qualifications in the field of Community training is an added advantage.
Work Experience:
- 2–3 years of experience in community training, facilitation, or development work.
- Experience working with rural communities.
- Background in using participatory methods and community empowerment approaches.
