Solutions Architect Job Description:
As TalkingPoints business and platform becomes more complex, we are reevaluating our alignment between product, data, technical and business needs. We want to ensure that we have the capabilities and infrastructure that our product vision requires. We want to take a holistic approach to evaluating and planning our roadmaps for the future, and believe working with a Solutions Architect can help validate alignment and make roadmap suggestions for the future considering our platform, product, data, and long term business needs.
This 3 month consultancy role will have the following outputs:
- Validate alignment between product, data and technical roadmaps
- Strategically map and prioritize business requirements and solutions to system/technical requirements
- Evaluate the flow of data through our platform, considering data needs for the business as well as the product
- Identify gaps and where alignment could improve, and suggest mitigation solutions
- Identify potential gaps, overlaps and conflicts in our strategic alignment between product, data and engineering, and how our roadmaps address cross-functional business needs so that we can best execute our long term product vision
- Recommend best practices in resourcing/hiring, approaching data architecture and infrastructure tooling, and balancing scale and innovation to be successful in the next phase of our product and organization
- Advise on common pitfalls or missteps for organizations and platforms at this stage of maturity - particularly in the areas of roadmap alignment, balancing scale/market demands/innovation, and data architecture - and recommend how to avoid them
- Advise on what resources we need to maintain alignment and prepare for our future state
- Analyze or recommend commercially available software
- Define role/job description and any suggested org modifications for defining data solutions
You have/are:
- 5+ years experience as a solutions architect working on SaaS products
- Deeply extensive business and technical acumen
- A “pulse” on the latest technology landscape, especially data architecture
- Experience:
- working with startups in a growth period
- de-tangling data flows for businesses and platforms with multiple, relational databases
- data integrations
- Technical expertise:
- DB knowledge - ETLs, non-relational, relational
- APIs, data flows/eventing
- Nice to have: K-12 EdTech experience
- Knowledge of SISs, Clever, Classlink, LTI, OneRoster
