Position Summary

To advance Teach For All’s 25-year vision, we are seeking a Global Lead, Financial Consulting & Advisory to lead the work that provides high-impact support to early stage entrepreneurs and network partners. This position is a critical senior role responsible for driving the long-term financial health and sustainability of Teach For All’s network partners globally. The Global Lead, Financial Consulting & Advisory will be responsible for providing expert financial guidance and strategic support to Teach For All's network partners. This role, reporting to and working alongside the Senior Global Director, Financial Consulting & Advisory, focuses on advising, coaching Heads of Finance/CFOs, CEOs, COOs, Boards, amongst other stakeholders, leading initiatives towards enabling stronger financial health and sustainability of partner organizations. The primary objective is to equip finance and senior leaders with the expertise and systems to navigate highly complex grants, mitigate systemic financial risks, and ensure the long-term solvency required for sustained organizational growth and impact across the network.

The role also focuses on learning from partner organizations to capture and share insights and best practices. The Global Lead, Financial Consulting & Advisory will also be charged with building relationships with and among finance staff members across the globe to create a vibrant and interconnected global community. In addition, this role will collaborate closely with a diverse array of internal colleagues across regional and functional teams, and will liaise with external stakeholders from a wide variety of national contexts. Important to note, this role will provide consulting and advisory support, with no direct authority over Partners, who are independent organizations in their legal right with separate governance structures, hence critical skills would include ability to build strong relationships, maintain flexibility while providing best practice advice and support.

The Global Lead, Financial Consulting & Advisory will aim to build our partners’ financial strength and sustainability as measured by:

  • Creation and execution of high-quality synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences, resources and tools that enable partners to set up, maintain, and evolve strong financial systems
  • Feedback from CEOs, CFOs, and other stakeholders about the quality of support provided
  • The vibrancy and connectedness of the network of heads of finance across regional contexts
  • The financial health of our partner organizations - including their ability to ideally avoid and, where necessary, navigate cash flow issues; have clean audits; and manage complex grants and foster more financially sustainable pathways.

About the Team

The Collective Learning and Consulting team is a diverse group of over 25 staff members with an array of expertise, ranging from teacher recruitment and professional development to governance to public/private sector partnerships. In collaboration with others, the Collective Learning and Consulting team drives aggregate impact across the network by:

  • Distilling and sharing insights
  • Designing and facilitating meaningful learning opportunities and communities in virtual, in-person and blended spaces
  • Providing tailored coaching and consulting to early stage entrepreneurs and current network partners
  • Contributing insights on education, leadership, and system change to the broader global ecosystem

Key Responsibilities :

This role will be mainly focusing on the 3 core areas of 1) Coaching and Consulting Support, 2) Knowledge & Learning Experience Development and 3) Finance Communities facilitation. The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Coaching and Consulting Support

  • Provide strategic financial consulting and advisory services and support to senior leaders and network partners, shaping and influencing budgeting, forecasting, financial strategy, risk management, and long-term financial planning.
  • Act as strategic partner to partner CEOs and senior management, translating complex financial data into organizational strategy and influence structural decisions that impact organizational outcomes, enabling leaders to make informed decisions, to influence the organization- or network-wide outcomes.
  • Guide and support partner staff and ESEs (Early-Stage Entrepreneurs) to self-diagnose the financial strength of their organizations and to identify strategic growth opportunities. and prioritizing initiatives to strengthen their long-term impact and sustainability.
  • Provide leadership coaching to support senior leaders across organizations to shift mindsets and practices that will unlock financial strength - and to strengthen collaboration across their organization, and drive sustainable organizational impact.
  • Partner, influence and collaborate with cross-functional internal teams e.g., Subgrants, Development & Partnerships team, Government & Multilateral, Executive and Regional Teams, to align strategies, ensure cohesive sustainable financial health & best practice operational practices support across the network.

Knowledge Development

  • Design and lead dynamic learning experiences (virtual and in-person) for finance and non-finance leaders across the network.
  • Create and curate financial resources, tools, and best practices to provide actionable knowledge development and insights to partner organizations.
  • Lead the development and execution of high-impact financial projects and initiatives across the global network, including elevating examples of financial policies and best practices and analyzing global trends.

Building Strong Communities

  • Facilitate and foster the growth and cross-collaboration of Regional Finance communities, providing specific and targeted coaching to Heads of Finance/CFOs on their leadership journey.
  • Support finance staff to engage meaningfully with their peers on key areas of learning/ interest, strategic priorities, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

Qualifications

We're looking for a leader who is passionate about financial sustainability and enabling the success of others even without formal authority. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Professional Certification: A professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA is required.
  • Senior Leadership Experience: A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in a financial capacity, with demonstrated success in executing high-level projects and driving organizational financial health.
  • Financial Strategy, Systems & Operations: Proven expertise in a senior financial leadership role, with a strong understanding of financial strategy, planning, risk management, and the ability to develop, implement, and evolve financial systems and processes to support organizational growth and ensure compliance.
  • Strategic Business Partnering & Coaching: Proven ability to act as a strategic business partner, coaching and advising senior leaders on complex financial matters, and building strong, collaborative relationships across diverse teams and cultures.
  • Global Fluency: Ability to communicate, lead and participate in calls in English and Spanish, as well as create stories and resources is required.
  • Sector Knowledge (Preferred): Experience working within the nonprofit or development sector is a plus.

Additional desirable skills/experiences (not required):

  • Familiarity with the Teach For All model and/or prior work experience with one of Teach For All’s network partners is an asset.
  • Ability to build relationships across lines of difference and virtually
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing environment
  • Experience designing tools and experiences to facilitate adult learning across diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, would be highly advantageous
  • Experience launching and/or coaching and supporting social enterprises is strongly preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities

Compensation

Salary for this position is competitive and dependent on country of hire and prior work experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Travel and Hours

All work is delivered virtually. Up to 20% of travel may be required. Given that we work across different time zones, some non-traditional hours for early or later calls are an expectation of this role.
