Africa Management Institute (AMI) is seeking a skilled Translator, based in Senegal, to support our mission of empowering businesses and professionals across Africa. This consultancy-based role involves translating entrepreneurship and workplace learning content from English to French, ensuring clarity, cultural relevance, and alignment with AMI’s interactive and engaging learning approach.The ideal candidate is fluent in both English and French, has proven experience in translation, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a part-time, project-based opportunity, with competitive daily rates based on project scope.
Key Responsibilities
Translation & Localization – Accurately translate AMI’s learning materials while maintaining the original meaning, style, and tone. Ensure content is culturally adapted to resonate with Francophone learners.
Proofreading & Quality Assurance – Review and refine translations to enhance clarity, accuracy, and consistency, ensuring high linguistic and instructional quality.
Collaboration – Work closely with AMI’s content development team, facilitators, and learning designers to align translations with learning objectives and user engagement strategies.
Technology & Tools – Utilize translation software and digital tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in content delivery.
Deadline Management – Prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring timely delivery of translated materials within project timelines.
Requirements
Language Proficiency – Native or near-native fluency in both French and English (written and spoken).
Translation Experience – Minimum of two years of professional translation experience, preferably in education, business, or professional development content.
Familiarity with Translation Tools – Experience using translation software and AI-powered tools is an advantage.
Collaboration Tools – Proficiency in platforms like Google Workspace and other digital collaboration tools.
Attention to Detail – A meticulous approach to ensuring high-quality, precise translations.
Cultural Sensitivity – Deep understanding of Francophone African contexts to adapt content effectively.
Time Management – Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Communication Skills – Strong communication skills and ability to work independently while collaborating within a team.
