AMI is seeking a mid-senior level Impact Insights Analyst to join our Impact Intelligence team. This is a critical role for ensuring that high-quality data and insights inform our programmes with entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and corporate partners across Africa.

The analyst will lead data management, validation, segmentation, and impact analysis, and collaborate closely with M&E managers, programme teams, and our data warehouse engineers. The role requires strong SQL and data visualization skills, paired with the ability to manage analysis plans, translate data into actionable insights, and communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Data management & validation: Lead processes for capturing, cleaning, validating, and preparing programme, diagnostic, and market research data.
  • Segmentation & analytics: Conduct segmentation analyses, cohort tracking, and enterprise-level insights to support programme design and client reporting.
  • Impact analysis: Develop and manage analysis plans and question banks; deliver clear, actionable insights on impact and learning outcomes.
  • Market research & LNAs: Support Learning Needs Assessments, market studies, and diagnostic tool analysis with rigorous methods.
  • Visualization & storytelling: Design dashboards (Metabase, Tableau, Power BI) and data visuals that make insights accessible and actionable.
  • Data access & collaboration: Manage self-service data access requests via Metabase and liaise with the data warehouse team to align on pipeline priorities.
  • Organizational learning: Share best practices, frameworks, and tools to strengthen AMI’s overall use of data for decision-making and impact measurement.

Requirements

Qualification & experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, data science, or related field (Master’s an advantage).
  • 3–5 years of applied data analysis experience, with demonstrated ability to manage datasets, write SQL queries, and deliver insights.
  • Proven track record with SQL, data visualization, and analysis of large datasets.
  • Experience in the learning, MSME/enterprise development, or applied research space strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with survey tools (SurveyMonkey, Kobo, Qualtrics, etc.) an advantage.
  • Bonus: experience with R, Python, or Stata for statistical analysis.

Skills & Attributes

  • Advanced SQL skills (must-have).
  • Strong data visualization skills (Metabase, Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
  • Experience managing programme or survey data, with proven attention to quality and validation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights and stories.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented, able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative, flexible, and comfortable working across multicultural and entrepreneurial environments.
