About the Role
We design, build, operate, and maintain a network of solar-powered desalination systems called Solar Water Farms (SWFs) across Kenya. These systems provide communities with access to clean, healthy, and affordable drinking water.
As a Senior Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for leading the maintenance, repair, and performance optimization of GivePower’s solar water farms assigned to you. You will ensure that all equipment operates safely and efficiently, provide technical guidance to junior technicians, and support field operations through timely troubleshooting and preventive maintenance interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Water Treatment Systems:
- Lead the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desalination and water treatment systems (including reverse osmosis, filtration, dosing systems, pumps, etc.)
- Monitor and maintain water quality standards, ensuring compliance with KEBS and internal specifications
- Diagnose and resolve issues affecting water production, quality, and system efficiency
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of boreholes, injection wells, soak pits, and associated equipment
Solar and Battery Electrical Systems:
- Support maintenance and troubleshooting of solar battery off-grid systems, including panels, inverters, charge controllers, batteries, generators and associated electrical components.
- Identify and resolve faults affecting power availability and system uptime, ensuring continuous operation of water treatment systems.
Network & Data Systems:
- Maintain and troubleshoot site-level network infrastructure, including routers, modems, antennas, and IoT/monitoring devices.
- Ensure continuous and reliable data transmission from field systems to central monitoring platforms.
Field Service & Team Leadership:
- Provide technical supervision of maintenance and repair works handled by the Junior Field Service technicians.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues escalated by the Junior Field Service technicians.
- Periodically inspect and sign off on major repairs done by Junior Field Service technicians.
- Submit regular maintenance reports to the Workshop Manager.
Maintenance & Reliability:
- Implement preventative and curative maintenance schedules.
- Ensure all maintenance activities at allocated sites comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities at assigned sites through the company's CMMS.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and system reliability enhancement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Water Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in field service or technical maintenance of solar or water systems.
- Valid EPRA T1/T2 certification.
- Experience in supervising technical teams or field technicians.
- Technical experience in water treatment, plumbing, electrical, solar battery systems, and network systems.

Salary: 150,000 KES
