The/Nudge is an action institute working towards a poverty-free India within our lifetime. We partner with governments, markets, and civil society to build resilient livelihoods for all. What are we solving for?
We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty.
At The/Nudge Institute, we have been piloting this program for the past 3 years and are in the process of catalyzing the propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to ending poverty in India.:
continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale
enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support
enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
continue to generate data on poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale
build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality.
Experience:
~15 years of experience
Experience in managing operations at scale / building operations to scale
Experience in managing and coaching high performance teams
Experience in building and driving partnerships to scale within rural development and government ecosystems.
Must haves :
Must have willingness to travel to remote rural locations in India to set up / run operations
Must have demonstrated growth mindset - learning continuously and improving
Must have the willingness to listen to feedback and work to improve
Must have high self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses
Must have demonstrated ability to work under uncertainty, ability to articulate vision and secure buy-in from stakeholders
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
Requirement: Should be open to stay and travel in deep rural areas

Position Overview
While the top 5-10% of India is benefiting from a growing economy and is exposed to opportunities that are unprecedented in India’s history there is a bottom 5-10% in the same India tucked away and invisible to the outside world on the edges of remote villages, geographically isolated, social and financially excluded, economically excluded and unable to meaningfully participate or gain from this growth of the country.
Thankfully, we now have evidence from multiple global studies of approaches that are targeted, multi-faceted and sequenced that have demonstrated impact that is scalable.
Our goal is to help serve 1 million households in the next 5 years in partnership with government and non-profit organizations. We have made good progress towards the goal with presence and partnerships across 7 Indian states and a 200+ member team.
We are looking for an Associate Director, Head - Operations, West & Central, End Ultra-Poverty to join us in this journey, own the growth and scale of our programs in West & Central regions of India, in partnership with the government and non-profit organizations.
Key outcomes
To build a high performance operations team across multiple states that will deliver on above outcomes in partnership with government and through direct implementations
To partner with and manage partnerships with state governments to support them with implementation at scale
To deliver on results as well as to uplevel partnerships with governments for scale-up
To deliver quality & operational excellence by way of strengthening capacity of teams and implementation of technology and processes
To collaborate with Product teams, who are accountable to design, in partnership with operations and other stakeholders, for impact and scale
To collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure high quality implementation
