About The/Nudge
The/Nudge is an action institute building resilient livelihoods to alleviate poverty. We work with women, farmers, tribals and youth on rural development, agriculture, skilling and economic inclusion, along with 15+ central and state government partners.
Our economic inclusion journey for 25 million Indians spans 10 states and currently reaches 1.5M people. Our incubator, accelerator and grand challenges have supported 200 social entrepreneurs including Forbes 30U30 honorees, EarthShot Prize winners and nationally recognized changemakers.
Set up with support from 135+ eminent philanthropists, 40+ corporates and 15+ foundations, The/Nudge is working towards a "poverty-free India, within our lifetime".
What will you do?
strategy
  • own the global HNI/UHNI fundraising strategy, with a primary focus on corpus and endowment building - designing the roadmap, setting multi-year targets, and driving execution.
  • build and champion a compelling institutional giving narrative that connects The/Nudge's mission to the long-term philanthropic ambitions of UHNIs globally.
donor stewardship
  • serve as the lead relationship manager for the most strategic philanthropists and family offices globally independently opening, cultivating, and closing major gifts.
  • leverage The/Nudge's existing community of founding supporters to warm-introduce and build a pipeline of prospective high-value donors.
  • design and execute bespoke stewardship experiences including field visits, impact reporting, and convening that deepen donor engagement and unlock repeat giving.
team leadership
  • lead, mentor, and manage a geographically distributed team of 7–9 senior development professionals across India and the US.
  • foster a high-performance culture with clear ownership, accountability, and psychological safety; model the behaviours of learning, collaboration, and donor-centricity.
  • build team capability in major gift fundraising, donor analytics, and proposal development; ensure the team operates with shared systems and standards.
  • establish KPIs for team performance and growth, and report progress to senior leadership and the board.
  • own and report on the global annual and multi-year fundraising targets; maintain a rigorous pipeline, forecasting discipline, and donor CRM hygiene.
institutional & cross-functional collaboration
  • partner with program, communications, finance, and leadership teams to develop world-class fundraising collateral, proposals, and impact narratives that resonate with sophisticated philanthropists.
  • represent The/Nudge at high-value philanthropy events, family office forums, diaspora networks, and sector convenings in India and internationally.
  • collaborate with the board and advisory network to leverage institutional relationships and open senior-level doors.
What are we looking for?
  • deep passion for poverty alleviation and India's development trajectory.
  • growth and learning mindset - comfortable with ambiguity and willing to experiment.
  • high degree of integrity and donor empathy; builds trust across cultures and geographies.
  • willingness to travel extensively, both within the US and internationally, including regular trips to India.
  • intellectually curious and well-read; able to hold substantive conversations on development economics, India's social sector landscape, and global philanthropy trends.
  • background in the social sector, philanthropy advisory, wealth management, or impact investing preferred; candidates from adjacent sectors with strong philanthropic networks will be considered.
  • a compelling, confident, and credible communicator equally comfortable at a billionaire's dinner table and in front of a foundation board.
  • results-oriented with a strong track record of closing; operates with urgency and entrepreneurial drive while building durable institutional relationships.
  • hands-on and willing to roll up their sleeves, this is a player-coach role at a scaling nonprofit.
  • 20+ years of progressive fundraising or business development experience with a track record of delivering on goals.
  • prior experience leading and managing a senior fundraising team of 5+ people in a complex, matrixed environment.
