The/Nudge is an action institute building resilient livelihoods to alleviate poverty. We work with women, farmers, tribals and youth on rural development, agriculture, skilling and economic inclusion, along with 15+ central and state government partners.
Our economic inclusion journey for 25 million Indians, has reached 10 states with $250M of government funding to cover 1.25M people. What are we solving for?
We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty. At The/Nudge Institute, we are in the process of catalyzing the propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to ending poverty in India.:
  • Continue to implement on its own to iterate the design for impact at scale
  • Enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support
  • Enable govt to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
  • Continue to generate data on poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale
  • Build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality
Role Purpose:
The Program Lead -EIP will lead the quality implementation of program activities, planning, implementing and monitoring the overall implementation of the JH-SAY program in the state. They will lead and engage in designing, contextualisation, and strengthening of livelihood activities with focus on integration of INRM activities. The PL will lead small pilots on INRM, Forest rights, Gender/Health integration etc. based on need and scope of integration. They will manage and drive the implementation team to ensure quality implementation of project activities within timelines.
The role combines strong program management skills, team management skills, technical expertise in farm and INRM intervention, ensuring that the program interventions are effectively implemented on the ground with desired quality and leads to achieve the overall program outcome and impact
The key roles include:
  • To understand and practice the Spirits of The/Nudge Institute.
  • Ensure all project activities are implemented on time with utmost quality as per approved Project Implementation Plan (PIP)/ Standard Operating Procedure (SoP)/ Package of Practice (PoP)/ in the respective districts and blocks.
  • Design, contextualize and execution of livelihood models on farm livelihood and INRM intervention to enhance household income.
  • Manage the field team and drive them for quality implementation and timeliness of project activities.
  • Coordinate with the respective stakeholders like DMMU, BMMU, partner organizations, CBOs, etc to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
  • Develop training modules and contents in close coordination with L&D team on INRM integration.
  • Support and guide field team to take up small pilots on INRM, Forest rights, Gender/Health etc on field.
  • Coordinate and facilitate in organizing capacity building training of project team and community.
  • Coordinate and lead in organizing any project related event at State, regional and district level.
  • Coordinate and support in any field visits of donors, academicians, internal team, dignitaries and officials.
  • Ensure timely planning, implementation and regular monitoring of project activities.
  • Ensure data driven review and planning with the team and regular field visit to monitor and support the field team in quality implementation.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting related to the project to different stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the field team in timely collection/ entry, processing and reporting of data.
  • Support and practice Monitoring & Evaluation of projects.
  • Good stakeholder management at the grassroots level.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Candidate must be Masters/post-graduate in relevant streams like rural development, rural management, Agriculture, Forestry, social work, anthropology etc.
  • Candidate with experience of leading and implementing INRM related projects at large scale will be preferred.
  • Candidate must have 5-8 years of relevant experience in the development sector/ rural development projects/ poverty eradication projects/ livelihood promotion projects/ tribal development projects. experience of leading and implementing INRM related projects at large scale will be preferred.
  • Candidates with work experience working at state-level positions in National Rural Livelihood Mission/ State Rural Livelihood Missions/ SPMU in Livelihood promotion and INRM intervention will be preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agro-forestry, Natural resource management or a related field. A Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in designing training modules and content around community led INRM intervention.
  • Experience of planning and organizing large scale training and mentoring of field teams, community cadres and community institutions.
  • Good understanding of smallholder farming systems and INRM practices in eastern India/Jharkhand will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across districts in Jharkhand.
  • Proficiency in English and Hindi is mandatory; familiarity with local dialects will be an added advantage
