What are we solving for ?
We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty.
At The/Nudge Institute, we are in the process of catalyzing the propagation of the same. Our purpose is to contribute to making the most excluded individuals contributing member to the economy:
  • Enable govt to adopt by providing research,design, and implementation support
  • Continue to implement on its own to iteratethe design for impact at scale
  • Enable more NGOs to adopt technical and capacity-building support
  • Continue to generate data on poverty and evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale
  • Build technology solutions for NGOs and governments to adopt and implement at scale & with quality
Position Overview:
The/Nudge Institute is partnering with the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), Rural Development Department, Government of Tripura, to promote the adoption of the Graduation Approach (Economic Inclusion Program) for supporting extremely vulnerable households in achieving sustainable and dignified livelihoods. As part of this partnership, a State Project Management Unit (SPMU) has been established at TRLM, Agartala, to support the Government of Tripura in designing and implementing the Chief Minister's Nabadisha Abhijan (CM-NDA). This position is based at the SPMU in Agartala and will report to the State Lead.
What will you do ?
  • Own the implementation and delivery of the program, ensuring the achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and managerial support to the field team, particularly the Block and District professionals.
  • Manage Block and District professionals to ensure high-quality implementation through regular reviews, mentoring, and field visits.
  • Develop processes and systems for the onboarding and capacity building of Block professionals.
  • Develop processes and systems for regular monitoring, performance tracking, and continuous feedback.
  • Work closely with The/Nudge's Finance team to develop budgets and ensure their timely and effective utilization.
  • Work closely with the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) to develop annual budgets and prepare financial plans.
  • Support TRLM in the research, development, and refinement of strategies and program designs to target extremely vulnerable households through the Graduation Approach, built on community institutions under DAY-NRLM.
  • Support TRLM in implementing action research on the Graduation Approach through a special project designed in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Enable convergence of various state initiatives and programs—including social security, livelihood promotion, financial inclusion, and social empowerment—to help women and their households graduate out of extreme poverty.
  • Support TRLM in periodically reviewing program progress to identify learnings, make course corrections, and enable scale-up.
  • Support the Mission in leveraging data and technology to ensure a continuous and reliable flow of field data for decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key government stakeholders in Tripura to ensure the successful implementation of the special project.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with key government departments to support the adoption and institutionalization of strategies for reaching extremely vulnerable households.
Who are we looking for?
  • 6–8 years of experience in a government consultancy or a similar development-sector set-up.
  • A postgraduate/master's degree in Rural Development, Rural Management, Social Work, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • A demonstrated growth mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • A proven track record of initiating and leading programs, working effectively in uncertain environments, and articulating a clear vision while securing stakeholder buy-in.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English, Hindi, and the local language (Bengali/Kokborok).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to set aside personal biases and make decisions that are in the best interest of the community.
  • Experience in designing and managing multi-stakeholder development sector programs centered around (or implemented with) Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Community Institutions, and State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs/TRLM).
  • An openness to travel extensively and reside in designated districts, blocks, or panchayats as required to achieve the program's objectives.
  • A passion for serving underserved communities with humility, empathy, and sensitivity.
