About The/Nudge :
The/Nudge is an action institute building resilient livelihoods to alleviate poverty. We work with women, farmers, tribals, and youth across rural development, agriculture, skilling, and economic inclusion, in partnership with 15+ central and state governments. Our economic inclusion journey towards serving 25 million Indians spans 10 states and currently reaches over 1.5 million people. Through our incubator, accelerator, and grand challenges, we have supported 200+ social entrepreneurs, including Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, Earthshot Prize winners, and nationally recognized changemakers.
Founded with the support of 130+ eminent philanthropists, 40+ corporates, and 15+ foundations, The/Nudge is working towards a poverty-free India, within our lifetime.
What are we solving for?
We are solving for households in poverty who are also financially and socially vulnerable through a targeted, multi-faceted, and sequenced model called the graduation approach, which has demonstrated that we can durably pull households out of poverty.
At The/Nudge Institute, we have been piloting this program for the past 3 years and are now scaling it across multiple states. Our purpose is to enable the most excluded individuals to become contributing members of the economy. We will :
- Enable government to adopt by providing research, design, and implementation support
- Continue to iterate on the program design to create impact at scale through our own implementations
- Support more NGOs in adopting graduation approach by offering technical expertise and capacity building
- Build evidence on graduation approach to nudge governments to adopt at-scale
- Develop technology solutions that enable NGOs and governments to adopt and implement the program at scale & with quality
Position Overview :
This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for someone who has personally designed and iterated structured coaching or behaviour-change interventions. You will own the non-market outcomes strategy (health, gender and life skills) for EIP end-to-end - turning the theory of change into structured, sequenced interventions, iterating it in the field, and integrating it into the core program. You do not need subject-matter depth in gender, health or psychosocial work; you do need the judgment to translate content expertise from government bodies, local experts and specialist partners into program design that works for ultra-poor rural households.
What will you do?
- Own the non-market outcomes strategy end to end — health, gender and life skills — translating the theory of change into a structured, sequenced curriculum across the 3-year program
- Design and iterate coaching and behaviour-change interventions — module content, facilitation guides, and household- and group-level session design
- Translate field insight into program design specific to the constraints and realities of ultra-poor rural households
- Run a fast test-learn-iterate cycle: pilot interventions in the field, incorporate external evidence, and rapidly integrate learnings into the core program
- Identify and manage local partners, SRLM resources and subject-matter experts to co-design and co-deliver specialist content and scale on-ground training
- Partner with the Operations and Impact team to embed non-market interventions into existing program delivery
Who are we looking for in this role?
- 8+ years in program/product design, behaviour-change work, or social-sector interventions
- Master's or PhD in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Development Studies or a related field is a plus
- Has personally designed and iterated structured coaching or behaviour-change interventions
- Strong user and context judgment; able to translate user insight into what needs to be built for ultra-poor rural households
- Able to translate expert or government content into structured, field-ready design and has a track record for scaling through partners (SRLMs, local partners
- Strong structured thinking; comfortable breaking down ambiguous, cross-cutting problems into a coherent, sequenced program
- Biased to move fast: constantly testing, learning and iterating
- Willingness and enthusiasm to spend significant time in the field — rural areas, with participants and frontline staff
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Written and spoken fluency in Hindi and English
