At Thorn, our cause is our code. We are a nonprofit whose mission of defending children from sexual exploitation and abuse is deeply embedded within our core—a shared code that drives us to do challenging work with resilience and determination.

Here, you’ll work and grow among the best hearts and the best minds in tech, data, and business alongside our network of independent partners, NGOs, and law enforcement agencies. Together, we’re focused on building technology that protects children’s futures. We are looking for dynamic problem solvers with the desire to help address some of today’s toughest issues. You'll collaborate with a diverse group of peers in a remote environment centered on wellness, care, and compassion.

In 2019, we took the stage at TED and shared our audacious goal of eliminating child sexual abuse material from the internet. Come join us to help make this goal a reality and build a world where every child can be safe, curious, and happy.

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned product manager to lead our product development efforts for the law enforcement segment. You will actively engage with our users and partners to ensure our applications are utilized to their fullest extent possible.

The Senior Product Manager has a strong understanding of customer needs and how to translate those needs into solutions while embodying Thorn’s mission. As a Senior Product Manager you are data-driven, intuitive and know the ins and outs of your products within the context of the issue and Thorn at large. You will establish the product vision, roadmap development and work with the engineering team to deliver on our mission. As a Senior Product Manager you are adept at prioritizing and re-aligning with an ever-changing landscape. You thrive on solving complex problems in creative and innovative ways. Success will require being a team player, and the ability to develop and leverage strong relationships across the organization while balancing priorities, managing expectations, and driving the continuous release of innovative products and features.

You’re passionate about driving technical innovation to fight child sexual exploitation. You are, without a doubt, a creative, business-minded person with the ability to quickly shift gears between issue and solution, and execution and strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Ideate on innovative technological solutions to maximize impact and create cutting edge differentiation features for the product line.
  • Evaluate market trends and competitive strategies on an ongoing basis to inform decisions on product functionality, pricing, and positioning to support org goals.
  • Lead annual roadmap planning for your segment, clearly articulating the metrics around anticipated mission impact, ROI, and cost for each effort.
  • Create detailed business cases for new product/feature launches outlining the opportunity, risks, and solution plan.
  • Conduct user interviews and understand end-to-end user workflows to clearly document the ‘what and why’ behind prioritization.
  • Establish strong working relationships with cross functional stakeholders to orchestrate successful, on-time launch of new products and features.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to drive product growth and segment impact.
  • Have a good technical understanding of the systems and segment technologies you lead and manage.
  • Analyze user feedback and issues to make informed decisions while managing expectations between trade-offs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and UX Lead to ensure meaningful release prioritization and successful work execution.
  • Serve as product evangelist and point of contact for internal teams, customers, partners, and donors.

What We’re Looking For

  • Passion, humility, positive attitude, mission-driven, relationship builder, customer savvy, and self-directed with commitment to putting the children we serve at the center of everything you do.
  • Experience with content moderation, child safety, or law enforcement software product management.
  • Experience ramping up product offerings to multi million dollar revenue growth.
  • 6+ years of proven track record managing different phases of product development from ideation to implementation.
  • Analytical and agile mindset, comfortable using metrics and data to drive most of your decision making.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills within a highly distributed team.
  • Strong attention to detail and energized by a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up environment.
  • Manage disparate information and find common themes, recommend clear paths forward and iterate.
  • An inquisitive mind that is curious to understand how things can be improved continuously and courageous to question the status quo.

Bonus

  • An AI enthusiast who is comfortable using the technology for continuous operational improvement and enhancing ongoing product development.
