Position Summary

The Learning & Development Specialist is a core member of the Talent Management Team in the broader People Department at Tides. This position will partner closely with the Director, Organizational Development and Senior Manager, Employee Experience in their efforts to develop strategic initiatives that promote a positive, values-aligned employee experience for all Tides Network staff.

The Learning & Development Specialist will report to the Director, Organizational Development and support the coordination, design, implementation, and evaluation of learning and development programs for Tides Network staff. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience developing engaging, competency-aligned staff trainings, excellent communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, and deep alignment to Tides’ mission and impact goal of shifting and strengthening power to the communities and leaders who have been historically denied.

This is a new, full-time position anticipated to start in mid-August.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Organizational Development with the design and implementation of org-wide learning and development initiatives in alignment with Tides’ organizational goals and priorities
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Employee Experience to assess staff learning and development needs through surveys, interviews, and focus groups
  • Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, resource gathering, and staff communication
  • Partner with IT and People Operations teams to ensure the seamless integration our information systems into Tides’ learning management and performance management tools (LinkedIn Learning, Emtrain, Culture Amp, etc.); Troubleshoot user issues as they arise
  • Develop engaging learning content for orientation, onboarding, and competency-aligned trainings
  • Maintain and monitor training data to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning and development initiatives
  • Create ad hoc training materials including presentations, handouts, eLearning modules, and other resources as appropriate
  • Collaborate with members of the People and Legal, Risk, and Compliance (LRC) departments to ensure training programs align with organizational policies and procedures
  • Cultivate relationships with external facilitators and vendors as needed
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in learning and development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong commitment to advancing Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) and deep alignment to Tides’ mission, vision, and values
  • Experience designing and implementing virtual training programs for staff and leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written) with the ability to present information to a remote and distributed workforce and leadership team
  • Experience with LMS and performance management systems administration
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to collect, synthesize, and present data in a clear and concise manner
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

Education and Work Experience

  • B.A/B.S. or equivalent years of related work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar HR, learning and development, or talent development role
  • Preferred experience in philanthropic/nonprofit/grantmaking practices with experience in social justice

Compensation

Tides is committed to providing a competitive compensation package. We value pay equity and account for factors such as your location within the U.S., your skills and your relevant experience, and we will not ask for your salary history. Your starting salary will fall into one of three ranges, depending on your location:

  • National market: $62,700 - $78,400 (Most U.S. states)
  • Moderate market: $68,400 - 85,500 (Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and D.C. metro areas)
  • High market: $85,000 - 99,400 (New York City and San Francisco metro areas)
