The Job
The DevOps Engineer is responsible for building, testing, and maintaining the tools that allow for the speedy development and release of the software. You also build, configure and monitor the infrastructure that is needed by the software to run.
Responsibilities:
- You make sure the infrastructure you develop is secure and safe with regards to information security & personal data.
- You document your work and make sure that your documentation is clear and understandable for future use by others.
- You build, configure and maintain the infrastructure needed by the Tiko software to run. You automate the creation, maintenance, and monitoring of the infrastructure
- You set up, test, and maintain the infrastructure of tools that we use to support our software development and launch. You are responsible for optimizing the flow of work from build to release.
- Our team works in an agile way and you will be part of the rituals and practices.
- You are actively involved in cross-team projects that involve development.
About you
You have in-depth experience as a DevOps Engineer. You’re a logical thinker and a natural problem solver who wants to use your technical skillset to make an impact.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of experience in a DevOps or SRE role
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes container orchestration (AWS EKS or on-premises installation — mandatory)
- Strong background with AWS services: RDS, EC2, SQS, IAM, EKS
- Minimum 3 years of experience with Terraform
- Familiarity with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD
- Proficiency in Python and shell scripting (we write automation scripts using Python).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or alternatives (GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps)
- Fluency in English (both spoken and written)

The monthly salary bracket for this position is R69,602 - R116,003 gross in South Africa, Ksh340,477 - Ksh567,462 gross in Kenya and €2,965 - €4,942 gross in Portugal plus benefits. We will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
