About Tiko
Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.
Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles -our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.
We invest in partners by strengthening CBO capacity, training frontline workers and providers, supporting clinic quality improvement, and compensating partners based on performance. Our technology platform connects all actors by enabling referrals, verifying service delivery, facilitating payments, and generating real-time data.
Tiko operates in seven countries: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Zambia, and Nigeria, with additional offices in Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. For a clear overview of our work, we recommend watching this short video.
Globally, our team consists of +230 enthusiastic, international colleagues. Whether you are working from our biggest office in Nairobi, the fast-growing office in South Africa, or from home, our people are young, and our culture is global and dynamic. Our work environment is fast-paced, informal, and friendly. You can learn more about what being part of Tiko is like here.
The Role
The Deputy Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer is a senior leadership role responsible for driving organisation-wide execution of Tiko’s long-term strategy. Acting as a close partner and delegate to the Chief Strategy & Development Officer, you are accountable for translating strategic ambition into clear priorities, decisions, and outcomes across the organisation.
You lead the operationalisation of Tiko’s strategy, ensuring alignment across leadership, strong accountability, and disciplined delivery. You play a central role in shaping how Tiko plans, prioritises, and transforms, and in ensuring that strategic and transformation initiatives result in sustained organisational change rather than standalone projects.
Responsibility areas
Organisational Strategy
- You lead the management of Tiko’s multi-year strategy. Working across leadership and teams, you ensure that strategic priorities are translated into clear plans, milestones, and accountability mechanisms.
- You support the institutionalisation of strategy by embedding planning, tracking, and review processes into the organisation’s operating rhythm. You surface risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early, and work with leadership to address them pragmatically.
- You play a key role in maintaining strategic coherence across initiatives, ensuring that day-to-day decisions remain aligned with long-term ambition.
Transformation
- You drive critical, cross-departmental transformation initiatives that strengthen Tiko’s ability to deliver at scale. These initiatives often span multiple functions, countries, and senior stakeholders, requiring strong coordination, change leadership, and decision-making under uncertainty.
- You approach transformation with purpose and intentionality, focusing on tangible outcomes rather than activity. From the outset, you ensure initiatives are clearly scoped, resourced, and anchored in measurable results.
- You work closely with senior leaders to remove blockers, manage change, and ensure that transformation efforts are adopted and sustained rather than remaining one-off projects.
Leading your team
- You lead and develop the individuals in your team. You mentor them if needed. We also expect you to continue to develop yourself and keep abreast of new developments in your field.
External partnership development
- You lead on the development of partnerships with external parties related to strategy, transformation or other areas that touch upon your area of work. You maintain and develop relationships with relevant stakeholders, ensuring a positive working relationship and future business opportunities for Tiko.
Other projects
You lead, get involved with, and help out colleagues on other projects as needed.
