The Company

Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.

Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles -our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.

We invest in partners by strengthening CBO capacity, training frontline workers and providers, supporting clinic quality improvement, and compensating partners based on performance. Our technology platform connects all actors by enabling referrals, verifying service delivery, facilitating payments, and generating real-time data.

Tiko operates in seven countries: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Zambia, and Nigeria, with additional offices in Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. For a clear overview of our work, we recommend watching this short video.

Tiko's people are young, and our culture is global and dynamic. Globally, our team is a vibrant community of over 240 enthusiastic colleagues. In Ethiopia, our impact is driven by a team of nearly 20 professionals, based in our Addis Ababa office or working remotely within the city. We are dedicated to implementing our projects in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other key partners to deliver essential triple threat services.

We are seeking an experienced Recruitment Manager to ensure that hiring across Tiko is consistent, strategic, and aligned with long-term organisational needs. This role provides structure, governance, and oversight to recruitment processes across teams and geographies, while enabling hiring managers and recruiters to make fair, informed, and timely decisions.

You will be accountable for the quality, clarity, and consistency of recruitment outcomes, with a particular focus on senior leadership and business-critical roles. As the organisation evolves, you will play a key role in maintaining scalable recruitment practices that balance rigour with efficiency and support sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities include:

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, manage, and develop the recruitment team, ensuring clarity of roles, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Run regular one-to-one meetings, team sessions, and retrospectives to support learning, accountability, and consistent delivery.
  • Enable recruiters to operate autonomously within clear frameworks, standards, and decision-making guardrails.

Strategic Hiring Ownership

  • Hold direct responsibility for recruitment related to C-suite, senior leadership, and business-critical roles.
  • Provide structure and guidance in high-impact hiring decisions, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and leadership expectations.

Interview Frameworks and Decision Consistency

  • Design, maintain, and continuously improve structured interview frameworks across roles and teams.
  • Partner with departments to define technical competencies, critical soft skills, non-negotiables, and red flags for each role.
  • Ensure interview stages, assessment criteria, and scorecards are clearly defined and consistently applied to support fair and objective decisions.

Employer Branding and Candidate Attraction

  • Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure employer branding accurately reflects roles, expectations, and organisational culture.
  • From the recruitment side, take accountability for the delivery and effectiveness of employer branding initiatives, supporting strong inbound pipelines and sustainable hiring outcomes.

Stakeholder Partnership and Recruitment Governance

  • Act as the primary recruitment partner for hiring managers, country directors, and senior leadership.
  • Provide structure, challenge, and clarity in complex or high-risk hiring decisions.
  • Ensure alignment on recruitment priorities, expectations, and standards across teams and geographies.

Recruitment Visibility, Onboarding, and Insights

  • Contribute to onboarding by clearly explaining recruitment processes and setting expectations with new hires.
  • Provide visibility on recruitment outcomes, including pipeline health, time to hire, and process insights, supporting transparency and continuous improvement.

Proactive Recruitment and Talent Pool Development

  • Lead proactive recruitment planning by identifying roles with predictable turnover, particularly junior and field-based positions.
  • Oversee the development of pre-assessed talent pools and long-term candidate relationships to enable timely and effective hiring.

About You

You are a structured and thoughtful recruitment leader who balances rigour with pragmatism. You are comfortable challenging assumptions, bringing clarity to complex decisions, and supporting leaders to hire well. You value fairness, consistency, and transparency, and you understand the organisational impact of hiring decisions.

You enjoy building systems and frameworks that enable others to work effectively, and you are confident operating across cultures, teams, and levels of seniority.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in recruitment leadership or senior talent acquisition roles, ideally in a multi-country or distributed organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing recruitment teams.
  • Strong track record leading senior leadership and business-critical hiring processes.
  • Experience designing and implementing structured interview frameworks and assessment processes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering with senior leaders and hiring managers.
  • Solid understanding of employer branding and candidate attraction strategies.
  • Experience using recruitment data and insights to improve decision-making and processes.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to provide challenge constructively.
  • High attention to detail, strong judgement, and a commitment to fair and consistent hiring practices.
