Technology at Turaco
Turaco's in-house tech platform powers all insurance operations, including claims processing, insurance pricing, customer onboarding, and communications. This core platform and several complementary tech products are managed by our technology team.
Our core tech stack uses Java with Spring Boot for the back-end, React for the front-end, and Postgres as the primary database engine. We run our services on AWS in a microservices architecture using Kubernetes.
About the role:
The Product Manager will play a critical role in helping us build our technology future as we strive to improve internal processes and better serve our customers and partners. The role sits within our “Service Center” team, supporting the operations and growth of multiple country offices. The Product Manager will work with teams across technology, insurance operations, Customer Operations, Commercial, and Business Development to understand the changing needs of the business, gather technical requirements, implement solutions, communicate project statuses and make proposals.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Evaluating business processes built into our technology solutions, anticipating requirements, uncover areas for improvement, and drive the implementation of tech features and builds.
- Work closely with designers, developers (both in house teams and partner teams) and subject matter experts to get requirements well-scoped, designed, tested, and built.
- Establish product delivery timelines in close collaboration with the development team.
- Ensuring requests have been scoped, added to sprints and properly resourced with enough technology team hours
- Quality assurance testing on new and old features.
- Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues to ensure closure.
- Train users on new features and the systems in general.
- Run beta tests and pilots for new features.
- Analyze user needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and support build vs. buy decisions.
- Monitor and understand the key metrics governing your product area, with an eye toward continuously improving them through ongoing product innovation.
- Staying up-to-date on the latest processes and advancements to automate and modernize our technology stack.
Key Qualifications & Your Profile:

- Bachelor/Undergraduate degree with excellent grades.
- 3+ years of professional experience in a dynamic product management role. Start-up experience is a plus.
- Proven experience overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
- Experience in performing quality assurance on software.
- Highly effective cross-functional team management and an excellent team player.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, juggle multiple tasks, think independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and problem-solve.
- Strong project management skills are a plus - delivery and action-oriented.
- Experience applying agile methodologies.
