Role Overview
As the People Operations Manager, you will serve as the right hand to the Head of People. While the Head of People focuses on organizational design and executive talent strategy, you will own the "engine room" of the People function. You are responsible for translating People strategies into operational reality, looking after a lean team, and ensuring that every HR process—from payroll to performance cycles—runs with precision and excellence.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Partner to the Head of People: Act as a thought partner to the Head of People, helping to operationalize high-level projects and interventions. You will take high-level goals (e.g., "improve retention") and build programs to achieve them.
- Design, map, and optimize scalable HR processes that can withstand rapid company growth without breaking.
- Oversee the Talent Acquisition processes. Specifically ensure the ATS is up to date, achieve time-to-hire turnaround times, and ensure a world-class candidate experience.
- Collaborate with the Head of People to manage the people team budget across headcount, learning and development, employee engagement, and recruitment.
- Contracting: Ensure the employee contracting journey is done accurately and on time, from offer letters, employee agreements, addendums and renewals.
- People Analytics: Support with the tracking of People Metrics key, among them; eNPS, employee retention, and time-to-hire
- Payroll: Run payroll for various entities and multiple markets.
- Facilities Management: Working with an Admin person in each of our markets to take care of office needs ensuring our teams have a conducive work environment.
- Culture Implementation: You are the "boots on the ground" for culture. You ensure culture initiatives are rolled out effectively, communicated clearly, and adopted by staff.
- Performance Cycles: Manage the logistics and execution of the company-wide performance review cycles, ensuring 100% completion rates and high-quality documentation from employees and direct managers.
- Business Partnering: Coaching New managers on how to derive the best outcomes from their teams. Consistently engaging managers in the team through one on ones to have a pulse on the whole Turaco team.
Key Qualifications & Profile

- Generalist background in People Operations comfortable with wearing multiple hats in the People Operations function.
- Experience: 6 to 8 years in HR/People Operations, with experience managing a team and complex projects.
- Experience working directly with senior leadership is highly desirable. You know how to manage up and anticipate the needs of leaders.
- Experience in a multi-country context is ideal.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; IHRM/CHRP certification is a distinct advantage.
- We operate a lean People team with an "all hands on deck approach". Experience working in lean, highly leveraged people teams is key.
- The "Builder" Mindset: You are not just maintaining a system; you are improving it. You are comfortable creating structure where its needed.
- Tech Savvy: Deep familiarity with HRIS systems and a high level of proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis.
