1. Background

Organisation Summary:

UBONGO is Africa's leading producer of kids' edutainment content. As a non-profit social enterprise, we create fun, localised and multi-platform educational content that helps kids learn, and leverage their learning to change their lives. Ubongo reaches millions of families across Africa through accessible technologies like TV, radio and mobile phones. Our shows Ubongo Kids, Nuzo and Namia and Akili and Me currently air in 31 countries across Africa, in Swahili, English, French, Hausa, Chichewa, and Kinyarwanda.

Purpose of the RFP
Ubongo Learning invites qualified and experienced Graphic Design and Creative Agencies with excellent graphic design, animation and illustration skills to submit proposals for the provision of ongoing creative production and design support. This includes the creation and adaptation of visual assets across digital, print, media, marketing, education, brand, events, and fundraising needs, as well as the development and maintenance of Ubongo’s visual identity, creative systems, and reusable asset libraries to support internal teams and diverse audiences.

3. Scope of Work

The Creative Partner will provide ongoing design, visual production, and creative support across Ubongo’s brands, platforms, and internal teams. This includes the creation, adaptation, and management of visual assets used across digital platforms, broadcast, marketing, education, events, and fundraising.

  1. Creative Production

We will design and produce a wide range of creative assets, including:

  • Illustrations, artwork, and visual systems for Ubongo’s characters, shows, and brands
  • Digital assets such as app visuals, thumbnails, social media graphics, animations, and short-form video
  • Print and physical materials including merchandise, posters, ID cards, business cards, and event branding
  • Music and media artwork such as album covers and digital releases
  1. Content Adaptation & Localisation

We will adapt existing Ubongo content into new formats and versions for different platforms and audiences, including:

  • Episode segments, songs, and educational content
  • E-books and learning materials
  • Regionally adapted versions of content and branding
  1. Marketing, Education & Community Support

We will provide design support for Ubongo’s communication and engagement efforts, including:

  • Campaign and promotional materials
  • Social media engagement assets
  • Teacher, caregiver, and partner-focused materials
  • Website, broadcaster, and channel updates
  1. Brand, Events & Internal Communications

We will support Ubongo’s brand and operations through:

  • Event and stakeholder branding
  • Staff and partner materials (IDs, profiles, bios, etc.)
  • Presentation, reporting, and internal communication visuals
  1. Development & Fundraising Materials

We will create visual assets to support Ubongo’s fundraising and reporting needs, including:

  • Infographics and data visualisation
  • Donor and campaign materials
  • Reports and annual publications
  1. Creative Systems & Team Support

We will maintain and evolve Ubongo’s visual identity by:

  • Developing and refining fonts, logos, and design elements
  • Creating reusable templates and asset libraries
  • Supporting marketing, production, and brand teams with ready-to-use creative assets

4. Deliverables and Service Model

- Deliverables will be issued through written briefs or Statements of Work (SOWs)

- Turnaround times, revisions and approval cycles will be defined per assignment.

- Work may be requested on a retainer and/or unit-rate basis.

5. Contract duration

The anticipated contract term is 12 months, subject to performance and funding availability.

6. Intellectual Property and Confidentiality

- All final deliverables produced under this contract shall be the exclusive property of Ubongo Learning, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

- The agency must comply with confidentiality and data protection requirements applicable across Ubongo’s operating regions.

7. Proposal Submission Requirements.

Interested agencies should submit a proposal including:
- A brief profile of the agency and relevant experience in design.
- Portfolio of past relevant campaigns.

- Proposed service model (retainer, rate card, hybrid)
- Budget proposal

- Team structure and key personnel

- At least two professional references

8. Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be evaluated based on:

- Relevant experience and portfolio quality.

- Understanding of the scope and target audience.

- Creativity and technical capability.

- Cost-effectiveness and clarity of pricing.

- Capacity to work across multiple countries and teams.

9. Submission deadline

The deadline to submit the proposals is 30th January 2026. Kindly submit your proposal to husna@ubongo.org. Late submission may not be considered.

Ubongo reserves the right to negotiate final deliverables and payments before contracting.

- Ubongo Learning reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal.

- This RFP does not constitute a commitment to award a contract.

- Any cost incurred in proposal preparation are the responsibility of the bidder.
