Purpose
- Ubongo seeks a consultant to lead the development of a high-quality 10-Year Impact & Learnings Report (2015 - 2025) combining research, data collection, impact storytelling, and strategic reflection. These are detailed as follows:
- Assess reach, recognition, perception and
impact across various markets - Translate complex data and narratives into compelling, accessible formats.
- Strengthen Ubongo’s credibility and visibility with donors, partners, and the public.
- Ensure outputs are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with Ubongo’s brand and safeguarding standards.
Objectives
The consultant is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the audit exercise and report: This will include but will not be limited to:
- Data Review: Reviewing 10 years of M&E data, reach metrics, and academic study results provided by Ubongo.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Conducting meetings with internal leadership, key partners, and beneficiaries to capture "human-interest" stories. (This will include travel.)
- Content Pillars:
- Scale: Validate evolution from a local startup to a 48-million-household reach.
- Expansion: Validate and report on footprint in over 23 countries in Africa
- Learning: Evidence-based impact on literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
- Language: Multilingual content in +12 African languages
- Innovation: Growth across multi-platform distribution (WhatsApp, TV, Radio).
- Stakeholders: Partnerships spanning Government, broadcasters, CBOs, Funders etc.
- Project Management: Continuous progress updates and incorporation of structured feedback.
- Completion: Finalization of distribution ready Impact Report
Scope of Work
- The consultant will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the assignment, including but not limited to: - Inception and alignment meetings with relevant Ubongo teams - Development of a detailed workplan and timeline - Execution of all technical and creative tasks required under this TOR - Regular progress updates and review checkpoints - Incorporation of structured feedback from Ubongo - Final delivery, handover of all assets, and documentation
Expected Deliverables
- The consultant will deliver the following outputs, at a minimum:
- An Inception Note: Approach, detailed timeline, and assumptions.
- Flagship 10-Year Impact & Learnings Report: A comprehensive, high-design PDF document.
- Executive Summary: A 4-page "Highlights" version for high-level stakeholder engagement.
- Digital Assets: Infographics and short-form copy for social media and web use.
- Final Handover: All editable source files and production-ready versions.
- Completion Report: Summary of work, challenges, and future recommendations
Contract Duration
The consultancy is for 3 months.
- Phase 1: Inception & Discovery (2 weeks).
- Phase 2: Data Analysis & Storyboarding (1 Month ).
- Phase 3: Drafting & Creative Design (1 Month).
- Phase 4: Final Review & Asset Handover (2 weeks).
Eligibility
Open to international and senior regional consultants or firms with.
- Proven experience in impact reporting and large, multi-country programs.
- Exceptional writing and data synthesis skills.
- Ability to align with Ubongo’s vibrant, child-centric brand voice
Required Qualifications
Proposals will be graded based on:
- Technical Approach (40%): Methodology for storytelling and data visualization.
- Experience (30%): Demonstrated success in similar 6–10 year impact projects.
- Portfolio Quality (20%): Assessment of the four (4) required sample projects.
- Financial Value (10%): Clarity and efficiency of the pricing schedule
