Through strong partnerships with mobile network operators (MNOs), governments, and social impact organizations, we build sustainable digital channels that enable inclusive access to information and services.
Viamo’s mission is to make a general-purpose LLM "Ask Viamo Anything", or AVA, available to the 2B people who don’t own a smartphone. We do this by enabling users of the Viamo Platform in Africa and Asia to access this LLM through a free phone call, in their local language.
About the role
Viamo is seeking a senior consultant based in Pakistan to strengthen and grow our platform presence and partnerships in-country. This role will focus on improving strategic relationships with key mobile network operators, increasing Monthly Active Users (MAUs) and helping to figure out unit economics for Ask Viamo Anything that are a win-win-win for Viamo, our MNO partners, and our users, bringing the benefits of generative AI at scale to all Pakistanis, irrespective of device, literacy or digital connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Partnerships
Strengthen senior-level relationships with MNO partners, establishing Viamo as a trusted, long-term strategic partner.
Work with MNOs and other ecosystem partners to negotiate commercial structures that create mutual value and unlock scalable revenue.
Identify and pursue joint value propositions (e.g., shared social impact goals, co-branded services, new channels or pricing models).
Commercial Model & Sustainability
Lead the design of viable revenue models with MNOs (e.g., revenue share models, subscription models, co-funded services, or other commercial mechanisms).
Identify and test monetization opportunities across services, channels, and partners while ensuring alignment with Viamo’s social impact mission.
Advise the Country Director and Global Platform Director on commercial risks, trade-offs, and investment priorities.
Develop a clear roadmap toward financial sustainability for Viamo’s Pakistan platform, with defined milestones and assumptions.
Growth in Usage and Reach (MAUs, OBD, BTL)
Develop and implement strategies to increase Monthly Active Users (MAUs) across Viamo services in Pakistan.
Improve performance and effectiveness of OBD campaigns, including targeting, partner alignment, and channel optimization.
Strengthen BTL strategies (e.g., community outreach, partner-driven promotion, offline-to-online pathways) to drive awareness and uptake.
Work with internal teams to analyze performance data and translate insights into practical growth actions.
Internal Collaboration
Work closely with the Pakistan Country Director to align platform growth efforts with country strategy and priorities.
Partner with the Global Platform Director to ensure consistency with global platform strategy, partnership models, and best practices.
Provide clear, regular updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Demonstrated improvement in quality and depth of relationships with MNOs.
Clear, documented commercial model for Viamo Pakistan “Ask Viamo Anything” agreed with internal stakeholders.
Evidence of progress toward financial sustainability (e.g., revenue secured, pilots launched, signed commercial terms, or cost-recovery mechanisms).
Number and quality of commercial agreements or pilots with MNOs linked to monetization.
Demonstrated improvement in projected revenue vs. platform operating costs.
Evidence of stronger BTL contribution to user acquisition and engagement.
Increased recognition of Viamo as a credible and leading digital partner among key stakeholders.
Team and Reporting Structure
Reports to the Project Director, AVA
Close collaboration with the Country Director, Pakistan and Viamo’s Global Platform Director.
Level of effort
The consultant will work at approximately 50% capacity
Profile
Required
At least 7–10 years of experience in partnerships, business development, telecoms, digital platforms, or related fields in Pakistan.
Strong understanding of the Pakistani telecom ecosystem, including MNO structures, commercial models, and regulatory environment.
Proven track record of managing and growing senior-level partnerships (preferably with MNOs).
Experience driving user growth, adoption, or engagement for digital or mobile-based services.
Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a consultant capacity while collaborating closely with global and country teams.
Passion for social impact and technology for development is a strong asset.
