Summary

VillageReach is providing technical support to the EAF provincial coordination in Tshopo and Haut-Katanga for effective and efficient coordination of EAF and other interventions and investments. The EAF is a Gavi initiative designed to reduce the number of zero-dose and under-immunized children by addressing barriers to equitable vaccine access. Based on VillageReach learnings from this support , we aim to inform and influence Gavi’s 6.0 strategy, so it is characterized by innovation, equity, effectiveness in vaccine delivery, empowerment of local actors, resilience to outbreaks and climate change impacts.

This position will be supervised by the Program Manager, EAF Coordination and Learning and will work in close collaboration with the provincial team.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.

  • Collaborate with the EAF provincial coordination in Tshopo and Haut Katanga to capture key learnings.
  • Document and capture how EAF is functioning in Tshopo and Haut-Katanga.
  • Collect lessons learned from Tshopo and Haut-Katanga to inform VillageReach’s strategic inputs into Gavi’s evolving policies and programming.
  • Provide ongoing support to EAF provincial coordination.
  • Support EAF activities implementation
  • Work with the EAF Program Manager and the DRC Lead for Advocacy, Communication and Partnership to engage the media and share key activities and outcomes of ZD efforts.
  • Support and participate in key provincial EPI meetings; consolidating and analyzing the monthly data of the performance indicators of the Mashako Plan; monitoring the implementation of the action points taken during the coordination meetings;
  • Support the development and writing of policy and advocacy materials, as needed
  • Support relations with media in order to disseminate VillageReach’s impact on the field
  • Ensure documentation (written blogs or articles, audiovisual) of VillageReach’s impact on communities
  • Support the publication of VillageReach’s actions on various social media platforms (X/Twitter, website, Facebook, …)
  • Support the documentation of operational activities, approaches and methodology, related to process and lessons learned.
  • Collect and draft storytelling of key learning and impact of VillageReach’s programs.
  • Perform any other tasks as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, public health, social sciences or other relevant fields
  • At least 3 years of experience working focused on advocacy and communications.
  • Prior experience working in immunization and/or community organizing and engagement, preferably with disadvantaged communities and related to public or community health services;
  • Prior experience in media relations, including drafting and pitching op-eds and stories to top tier media outlets.
  • Prior experience documenting program processes is desired;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.
  • Proven success working with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment to achieve goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and to adjust to frequently changing demands.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and reliable follow-through, with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working for an international organization is an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and documents, and other web-based applications required
  • Excellent command of the French language in reading, writing and oral communication.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a plus

Other Qualifications:

  • Comply with VillageReach’s COVID-19 vaccination policy which requires full vaccination for in-person work or travel.
  • Established cultural competency in partnering with racial, cultural and linguistically diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated understanding of challenges with working in rural, underserved and low-income context; experience living in and/or working in a low-income country a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and comfortable in a fast-paced technical environment.

Environment and Physical Demands:

VillageReach employees typically work in a shared, open environment with task and conference rooms accessible to employees for privacy and meetings. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Due to the time zone differences across our USA, Kenya and Country Offices and location of other global staff, we have established core collaboration hours between 6am Pacific Time and 18:00 South Africa Time (GMT+1) Monday through Thursday. All staff, regardless of location are expected to be available between these hours. During Daylight Savings Time, this allows for 12 hours per week (3 hours/day) of collaboration time and during Standard Time, 8 hours (2 hours/day). We do not hold cross-office meetings on Friday.

Hiring Process:

The hiring process will include the following steps:

Compensation & Benefits:

VillageReach has an established compensation structure that is based on the relevant market and internally transparent. The annual gross remuneration of this position is $33,000 - $ 38,300 p.a. We hire people into the established range based on their experience and education, and considering internal equity. We do not inquire about salary history.
