Summary

VillageReach is conducting a Community Health Needs Assessment for Central Nevada Health District from March – July 2026 and is seeking a Research Assistant to support with in person qualitative data collection in Churchill, Pershing, Mineral and Eureka Counties. Responsibilities would include traveling with the Project lead to each of county approximately two times and assisting with note taking, interview debriefs and summarizing key takeaways.

Description

Data Collection

  • Travel with the Project Lead to Churchill, Pershing, Mineral, and Eureka Counties (approximately 2 visits per county) to support in-person qualitative data collection
  • Assist with conducting and/or observing community interviews, windshield surveys, focus groups, and key informant sessions
  • Take detailed, accurate notes during all data collection activities and submit them promptly to the Project Lead

Analysis & Documentation

  • Participate in post-visit debriefs with the Project Lead to review observations and identify emerging themes
  • Summarize key takeaways from each site visit in a clear, timely written format
  • Organize and maintain field notes, summaries, and supporting materials in shared project files

Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with the Project Lead to coordinate travel logistics and scheduling for data collection visits
  • Communicate proactively with the Project Lead regarding field observations, scheduling needs, or any issues that arise
  • Participate in virtual check-ins and project updates throughout the March–July 2026 project period
  • Adhere to data privacy and confidentiality protocols throughout all phases of the project

  • Dependability for multi-day travel commitments across multiple counties
  • Strong time management and ability to meet documentation deadlines
  • Familiarity with rural Nevada communities or similar contexts is a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply

ENVIORNMENT & PHYSCIAL DEMANDS

  • This is a hybrid role combining virtual coordination meetings and in-person field work across rural Nevada
  • Data collection visits may require travel for up to two consecutive days, including overnight stays in rural areas
  • Community engagement takes place in varied settings, including public venues, community centers and outdoor locations
  • Candidates must be comfortable in rural environments and able to interact directly with community members in unstructured, real-world settings
  • Extended travel by vehicle is required, including multi-day county trips
  • Flexible scheduling and non-standard hours may be necessary to accommodate community member availability

Hiring Process:

The hiring process will include the following steps:

Compensation:

This is a short-term, deliverable-based contract. We expect the duration of engagement to be 2.5 months. The rate is $150 per site visit, with payment issued upon delivery of typed field notes and key takeaways from each data collection visit. This fee includes participation in virtual onboarding and logistics coordination meetings.

Travel costs, including transportation and lodging, will be reimbursed separately.
