Overview for Operations
WRI Operations team supports the crucial front-line work of the organization, they directly interact and work with donors, partners, government agencies, statutory bodies, trustees, vendors, and Consultants in fielding their inquiries, providing support at all the fronts and solving problems. So that the WRI programs can be implemented without any hurdles and the program staff and researchers can develop high quality research documents, plans and implement the programs at the field level.
WRI Operations team consists of various functions such as Budget and Finance, Grants and Contracts, Legal Counsel, Human Resource, IT and Facilities management.

Job Highlight:
This role focuses on finance, accounting, and operational support to ensure organizational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. The position is responsible for managing accounts payable, reconciliations, month-end closing activities, journal entries, and financial analysis, while supporting the development and maintenance of accounting and recordkeeping systems. The role also involves analyzing accounting queries, coordinating with external stakeholders to resolve financial issues, and preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting standards. Additionally, the position supports institutional and financial problem-solving initiatives, maintains financial documentation, and contributes to continuous process improvement to strengthen operational effectiveness.
What you will do:
- Manage Accounts Payable processes, including invoice verification, reconciliations, and timely vendor payments.
- Verify the accuracy of supporting documents and invoices, ensuring compliance with contracts and organizational policies.
- Record and post accounting entries accurately in the accounting system.
- Resolve day-to-day Accounts Payable queries and coordinate with internal stakeholders and vendors for issue resolution.
- Prepare and process payment schedules while ensuring accuracy and timely disbursement.
- Support the Finance Manager by maintaining accounting records, documenting financial processes, and providing financial information for decision-making.
- Prepare monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports and support the month-end book closing process.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Prepare monthly GST and TDS workings, ensuring timely and accurate statutory compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and schedules for statutory and internal audits.
- Record, analyze, interpret, and report financial information while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Perform reconciliations of all balance sheet and general ledger accounts, including reconciliation of local books with parent company books.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and financial controls.
- Compile and maintain financial data and documentation required for statutory, regulatory, and internal compliance.
- Obtain quotations from vendors and suppliers and support procurement activities by evaluating cost-effectiveness.
- Review and manage vendor and service contracts to ensure compliance with organizational requirements and facility management standards.
- Monitor and verify work completed by contractors, consultants, vendors, and other external service providers.
- Support cost optimization initiatives by identifying opportunities for process and expenditure improvements.
- Maintain and manage physical and digital financial records in accordance with internal control policies.
- Provide end-to-end support during internal, statutory, and external audit processes.
- Undertake any other finance and accounting responsibilities assigned by the Management from time to time.
What you will need:
- CA Inter or M. Com or MBA finance degree.
- At least 2-4 years full time work experience in financial management
- Should have proficient knowledge about FCRA and TDS Filings, PT Returns and Filings.
- Ability to communicate proficiently with various Stakeholders at different levels within and outside the organization.
- Strong conceptual understanding of accounting and HR structure
- Understanding of Taxes, cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
- Bring high levels of intellect and experience coupled with the character and presence to make an immediate contribution to the institute.
- Strategic thinker and has eye for details.
- Experience in working in an NGO and knowledge of FCRA would be beneficial.
Location: Mumbai
Potential Salary and Benefits: 9,50,000 to 12,00,000 INR per annum
Salary shall be commensurate with experience, skills, and internal parity. WRI India offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package
