About The Team

The Commercial Department at Yoco is the acquisition and revenue engine of Yoco, our team works at the intersection of where Yoco’s technology meets the real world. We are responsible for growing the Yoco brand both inside and outside our company walls

About The Role

The Product Marketing team is looking for a Product Marketing Manager (PMM) to define, test and evolve the Product Story, Messaging, and USPs across Yoco’s multi-product ecosystem. You will generate customer insights that inform Yoco’s product strategy, collaborate on go-to-market strategies for our suite of products, and create and execute campaigns to drive product growth.

A highly cross-functional role at Yoco, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, Sales, Design, Performance Marketing, Communications and more! Different from many other Product Marketing roles, you work across the entire product lifecycle, from helping shape the product, to driving launch and commercialization, to growing product adoption post-launch.

What You Will Be Doing

Strategy:

  • Help to define and build remarkable products for small businesses across South Africa and MEA [more to come soon], informed by user research, market insights, and product understanding.
    • Develop and execute strategic quarterly marketing plans for sustained product growth.
    • Lead joint marketing efforts for our growing suite of in-person and online products within Yoco.
    • Evolve and define positioning for new and existing products within our portfolio.
    • Work with Product Managers, Engineers, Creatives, Data Scientists, Marketing Analysts, and other team leads to identify impactful product opportunities and prioritize efforts.
    • Developing Positioning & Messaging Frameworks that drive the demand and usage of the product.
  • Partner with Product and Performance Marketing teams to track the right metrics and execute campaigns that drive awareness, adoption and retention on an ongoing basis.
    • Leverage an iterative approach that blends qualitative and quantitative data, partnering Product, Engineering, Research, Sales, Customer Success, and Creative teams to take our products to the next level.
    • Including targeting, segmentation, product positioning, value propositions, essential messaging, and marketing channels.
    • Reporting on the performance of marketing campaigns, gaining insight and assessing against goals. Managing Advertising agencies and advertising campaigns accordingly.
  • Accountable for test and learn campaigns during Alpha and Beta, with support from cross-functional marketing teams.
    • Lead test and learn campaigns to better understand product fit in the market, informing business as usual marketing efforts to drive growth.
    • Work closely with a range of cross-functional teams - Product Managers, Sales, Design, PR, Research, Customer Success and Creative - to develop go-to-market strategy and drive launches for our products.
Creative:

  • You are a storyteller with excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and deep empathy for our users, who is able to adapt how you communicate to best reach and engage your audience—from developer to CFO.
  • Create clear and appealing USPs to acquire new customers for Yoco, delivered across relevant channels and platforms throughout the acquisition funnel, including:
    • Facebook and Instagram
    • Twitter
    • TikTok
    • Programmatic, GDN and PPC
    • CRM (email, SMS)
    • eCommerce (website, app)
  • Use company and industry data to inspire creative concepts and collaborate with various teams (Data, Product, etc)
  • Oversight of how different elements comprise cross-channel experiences.
  • Use data and insights to inform both creative work and design systems
  • Work in conjunction with functional leads to:
  • to optimise creative throughout the funnel, helping to meet evolving business objectives around CPA, payback period and more.
  • formulate and run Test & Learn campaigns
  • Work with Customer Insights and Product Marketing to help develop product narrative and positioning, and launch products successfully with Brand and Creative teams.

People:

  • Collaboration with the Copy, Design and Art Direction Leads to enable the creative team in generating ideas, developing concepts and creating campaigns based on the performance (digital acquisition, eCommerce and CRM) plan.
  • Collaborate with the Brand Leads and inspire creative and teams to push the brand forward with fresh, evolving, creative ideas, specifically regarding the evolution of the Brand and Product story.

Enablement:

  • Briefing in core USPs and Product Portfolio Narrative for across the various marketing teams and overseeing Product Story, across all touch points.
  • Build good working relationships with functional leads and teams, through shared product understanding, translating the Product Portfolio into creative briefs, and ensuring the creative teams have a deep understanding of the function each Product serves and the Portfolio as a whole. Comment
  • Play a proactive role in influencing the Brand and Product story, with the intent of building a scalable creative approach.
  • Holding and running brainstorms, and driving conversations with the team and clients will help strengthen the USP and drive a successful narrative and angle for each campaign.

About You

  • BA/BS degree
  • 8+ years of professional experience
  • 4+ years working in a marketing capacity.
  • Comfort in a face-paced, start-up environment
  • Previous background in B2B/B2C marketing
  • Experience in FinTech, lending, or financial services
  • Experience in hypergrowth within the FinTech space or relevant industry
