Youth Impact is an evidence-based international NGO working in education and health for young people around the world. We partner hand-in-hand with governments to scale high-impact programs through public systems — rigorously testing and refining them to maximize impact and reduce cost. Today, we have close government partnerships and on-the-ground teams in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, India, and the Philippines, alongside partnerships in many other countries and team members working across the globe. Our diverse global team spans disciplines, backgrounds, and time zones, but we are united by shared values and a commitment to learning. We are now entering an ambitious new phase of global growth, scaling rapidly across new geographies while maintaining the quality and rigor that define our work. We’re looking for people excited to join our mission of ensuring all young people thrive.

About the role
Youth Impact has worked with thousands of young people as volunteer facilitators, including national service participants, placing them in schools and communities to deliver high-impact education and health programs. For many, this is their first meaningful work experience — but too often, these opportunities do not translate into clear next steps.
We are now entering an exciting new phase of our work: intentionally strengthening pathways from these frontline roles into employment, further study, and long-term opportunity. This means adding more structure, support, and connection — from training and mentorship through to links with employers and training institutions.
We are looking for a highly capable and motivated operator to lead and coordinate this work. This is a hands-on, outward-facing role for someone who is energised by working with young people and passionate about expanding access to opportunity. Success will mean not just a well-run system, but young people moving into better, more meaningful pathways — and a model that can shape how youth employment is approached more broadly in Botswana.
Key responsibilities
Lead coordination of the youth pathways initiative across Programs, Curriculum & Training, Research & Innovation, and Communications to ensure delivery of key milestones and outcomes
Build and manage relationships with employers, training institutions, and partners to create credible and accessible opportunities for young people
Design and implement a structured approach to linking participants with opportunities (“matching”), including exposure, recruitment touchpoints, and follow-through
Oversee participant progression from onboarding through to post-program transition, ensuring consistent support, tracking, and follow-through
Organise and manage pathway-related activities, including employer engagement sessions, career fairs, networking events, and recruitment opportunities
Support participants with transition preparation, including CV development, interview readiness, and practical job search strategies
Work closely with Research & Innovation to define, track, and use data on participant progression, placement outcomes, and system performance
Identify bottlenecks and gaps in the pathways system and rapidly test and implement improvements
Engage government stakeholders (e.g. Ministry of Youth, Ministry of Labour) to align pathways with national priorities and systems
Provide clear direction and coordination to team members contributing part-time to the initiative, ensuring accountability and progress across functions
Required experience and qualifications
5+ years post qualification experience in program management, partnerships, operations, or related fields (e.g. education, youth development, employment, or social impact)
Demonstrated track record coordinating complex, cross-functional workstreams and driving execution across multiple teams
Experience engaging external stakeholders, an established strong network with employers, training providers, government, or partners
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against timelines
Proven ability to work independently with limited oversight and drive work forward in ambiguous environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to external stakeholders
Experience using data to inform decisions and improve program performance
Familiarity with youth employment, skills development, or labour market systems (desirable)
Experience working with or within government systems (desirable)
Who will thrive in this role
Deeply motivated by expanding opportunities for young people and addressing youth unemployment
Energised by working directly with young people and external partners, and comfortable operating in the field
Comfortable building something new, with a bias toward action and problem-solving
Able to coordinate across teams without formal authority and keep work moving forward
Strategic but practical, able to quickly identify what matters most and focus effort accordingly
