About us
The Migrants Resilience Collaborative (MRC) brings together non-profits, government agencies,
industry, and technologists with the shared mission of ensuring access to social protection for
those who need it the most. MRC’s impact was recognized by the prestigious TED Audacious
Project in 2023. Convened by Jan Sahas at the onset of the pandemic, MRC builds on Jan Sahas’
two-decade-long experience of working with migrants and other informal workers to implement
a two-pronged strategy:
1. Grassroots implementation where we work across 12 states through 1500+ last mile
agents, ensuring the most vulnerable workers have access to social protection schemes.
2. Systems change, where we partner with:
a. governments and market-based players to implementation
b. industry, where we work with investors and real-estate companies to improve
incentives and accountability towards worker welfare.
About the position
The Strategic Initiatives team at MRC partners with government agencies and market-based
players to bridge the vast gap between policymaking and implementation. Our grassroots work,
supporting over 3 million workers to apply for government social protection schemes, has shown
us that both workers and government systems are overwhelmed by poorly designed delivery
systems. For benefits to ultimately reach the most vulnerable, these systems need urgent
transformation.
As part of this work, we are looking for an entrepreneurial Senior Lead to conceptualize and
implement projects with Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) boards across the
country. If you have previous government consulting experience, and you want to transition to a
more mission-oriented role where you can actively shape and execute projects to unlock billions
in funding for informal workers, this role is for you. Some questions you will work on answering
are:
• How can boards effectively and accurately target construction workers?
• How can boards create friction-free experiences for workers and program administrators
to ensure timely delivery?
• How can boards better use data in their planning and decision-making?
Key Responsibilities
● Research and design
o Articulate pain points and opportunities in delivery systems through research,
interviews, journey mapping, MIS data analysis, and other methods as relevant
o Drive the design and testing of scalable solutions for improving delivery systems
in collaboration with the boards and external technology/product partners
● Project management
o Drive implementation by creating appropriate work packages and plans, putting
together cross-functional teams, delegating tasks, and ensuring accountability to
time-bound outcomes
● Partnerships management
o Build relationships with 1-2 government agencies, actively securing buy-in for
implementing and scaling high-impact solutions
Qualifications
● At least five years of experience in government consulting
● Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, public policy, engineering, or social science
● Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to formulate testable hypotheses around
ambiguous problems, and iterate based on quantitative and qualitative evidence
● Ability to build and maintain relationships with government agencies and other external
partners
● Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling competing priorities while delivering
high-quality outputs
● Excellent writing and communication skills -for conveying complex ideas effectively
● Strong project management skills, with the ability to structure work, set priorities, plan
timelines, and meet deadlines in a team setting
● Demonstrated passion and commitment to creating social impact.
