Job Title: Associate (Research Management)

Team: Research & Learning

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

About the Role

The Associate – Research Management provides operational and administrative support for the implementation of research studies, ensuring high-quality data collection, organized documentation, and smooth study logistics.

Research studies require reliable execution at the operational level, including participant coordination, data collection, scheduling, field logistics, materials preparation, and documentation. The Associate – Research Management helps maintain consistency, accuracy, and efficiency across these tasks, enabling research teams to produce rigorous and actionable evidence.

Roles and responsibilities

Study Logistics & Coordination

  • Support scheduling and coordination of research activities across schools or field sites.

  • Prepare materials, equipment, and supplies for data collection.

  • Assist with recruitment, tracking, and follow-up of study participants.

Data Collection Support

  • Conduct surveys, assessments, or interviews under supervision of senior staff.

  • Ensure proper consent procedures and ethical conduct.

  • Follow study protocols precisely to ensure data integrity.

Documentation & Administrative Support

  • Maintain organized records of participant lists, consent forms, daily logs, and field notes.

  • Support preparation of IRB documents, pre-registration materials, and study manuals.

  • Update trackers, spreadsheets, and internal documentation systems.

Field Quality Assurance

  • Conduct routine checks to ensure correct administration of instruments.

  • Flag data anomalies, logistical issues, or participant concerns promptly.

  • Support piloting and refinement of data collection tools.

Data Management

  • Support data uploads, cleaning, and organization under supervision.

  • Ensure confidentiality and secure data storage practices.

  • Prepare basic summaries or field reports when required.

Cross-Team Support

  • Work with service delivery teams, school partners, or clinical staff to coordinate research activities.

  • Support communication between field teams and research leadership.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in research support roles

  • Experience with fieldwork, data collection, or participant coordination

  • Familiarity with digital data platforms is an advantage
